When I’m talking with recruits and their families, I stress that we have two expectations of our golfers at the University of Evansville. One, to improve and succeed on the golf course. Two, maintain that same desire with their academics. Both areas take a serious commitment. For those who have that commitment, I believe the University of Evansville can provide four of the best years of your life.

Our golf program includes NCAA Division I competition in both the fall and spring seasons. Unique to the University of Evansville is that we have the opportunity to play and practice at three outstanding golf courses within 10 miles of campus: Rolling Hills Country Club, Cambridge Golf Club and

Quail Crossing Golf Club.

Academically, the University of Evansville has been listed consistently among the best colleg-es in the Midwest in the U.S. News & World Report rankings. Because of our small class sizes and the faculty’s commitment to our students, everyone receives the individual attention they deserve in order to succeed. This is a great place for golf and for learning!

One of the state’s most respected teaching pros, Jim Hamilton has brought energy and success to the University of Evansville men’s and women’s golf programs since his ar-rival in 2002. Not surprisingly, Hamilton was chosen in 2006 by the Indiana PGA as one of the state’s top 10 golf instructors.

A certifi ed PGA Professional, and former co-owner of Hamilton Golf Course in Evans-ville, Jim has carried on the Hamilton name that is synonymous with golf. He is the son of legendary Bob Hamilton, Ryder Cup team member and champion of the 1944 PGA Championship. Jim is an outstanding golfer himself, having won the Evansville city tourney twice, the Tri-State Junior Championship three times, and the Indiana Junior Championship once. Jim was a founder of the Evansville Junior Golf Association.

Hamilton’s teaching skills are refl ected in the teams he coaches at UE. The Aces’ men rose in the Missouri Val-ley Conference Championship standings from eighth to seventh to fi fth in Hamilton’s fi rst three years. In the fall of 2010, his men’s team won both the Butler Fall Invitational and the Dayton Invitational.

The women’s team has produced its top three MVC fi nishes under Hamilton’s direction, and recently earned the All-Scholar Team award from the National Golf Coaches Association. In addition, Maggie Wood in 2011 was chosen as the Dettwiler Scholarship recipient, given annually to one University of Evansville female ath-lete who possesses the characteristics of team spirit, hard work and leadership that made Meg Dettwiler an important fi gure in the Evansville community.
