Forestry Training Centres of BFW
• Sub‐office of Bundesforschungszentrum für Wald in Vienna
• Unique combination of generation of knowledge and knowledge‐transfer under one roof
• About 16.000 participants annually• 56 co‐workers, within this stuff 30 persons are teachers• Training Centres can be seen as a „link“ between science
and forestry practice (transfer of information and knowledge for the whole Chain of Custody)
• Tasks and objectives are defined in the Forest Law (§130f.) and in the legislation for BFW
• International cooperation‐ University of Padua (Cableyarding course, construction of forest roads, Woodland management courses)‐ other European Universities (Germany, Czech Republic, Slowakia, Italy)
• KWF (Kuratorium für Waldarbeit und Forsttechnik)‐Network
• EFESC (European Forestry and Environmental Skills Council), participation in the Standards‐Committee
• KWF‐testing laboratory: Forest Training Centre of Gmunden makes testings of forest machinery for KWF
