G.S.R. 984(E).-In exerci se of the powers conferred by the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution and in

supersession of the Department of Posts (Group ' 0 ' posts) Recruitment Rules. 2002, except as respects things done or

omitted to be done before such supersession. the Pres ident hereby makes the following rules regulating the method of

recruitm ent to the posts of Mult i Tasking Staff in the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications and InformationTechnology, namely ;- -

I. Short title and commeDcemeD\.-

(I ) These rules may be called the Department of Posts Multi Tasking Staff Recru itment Rules. 20 IO.

(2) They shall come into force on the date oftheir publ ication in the Official Gazette.

2. Number of Posts, their Classification and Pay Band and Grade Pay/Scale nf I'ay. - The number of posts,

their classification and the scale of pay attached thereto shall be as specified in columns (2) to (4) of the said Scheduleannexed to therules.

3. Method of recruitment, age limit, qualifications, etc.-The method of recruitment . age limit, qualifications

and other matters relating to the said posts shall be as specified in columns (5) to (14 ) of the said Schedule.

4. Disqualification.-No person ,-

(a) who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living; or

(b) who. having a spouse living. has entered into or contracted a marriage with any person,

shall be eligible for appointment to the said posts ;

Provided that the Central Goverrunent may, if satisfied that such marr iage is permissible under the personal law

applicable \0 such person and the other party to the marriage and there arc other grounds for so doin g. exempt any personfrom the operation of this rule .

5. Requirement to serve in the Army Postal Service :-Any person appointed to the posts specified in the said

Schedule shall be liable to serve in the Army Postal Service in India or abroad, as required.

6. Power to rel ax,- Where the Centra l Government is oflbe opini on that it is necessary or expedient so \0 do, it

may, by order , and for reasons to be recorded in writing , relax any oflbe provisions ofthese rules with respect to any classor category of persons.

7. Saving.- ·Nothing in these rule s shall affect reservations and other concessions requ ired to be provided for

the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the Ex-serviceman. Other Backward Classes and other special categories of

person s in accordance with the orders issued by the Central Goverrunent from time to time in this regard .
