Ha ha ha ha! Was just kidding\vhen I said it wasn! really thatcold. Great swim, eh! Last Sundaywas quite a day. In fact it endedqUitE' a ·week.

was really choice!

1h.3.t same day was the last sunset.Only an hour after the ANZACdawn service. arl~)ther service washeld at the flagpole. This time theflag was taken down altogether. 11will now remain down until sunriseon 20 August as it is now officiallythe Antarctic Nightime.

WelL thats what Al told us! Ifyoure over at Scott Base you 11n(ltice that not only is the flag gone, rut so is the flagpole. After a littlebit of research you would learn that.the pole \vas getting a bi1 51tabbyand needed a paint job. I reckonthat's "really" ;,hy the flag camedown. It s not ni:sht- time at all! In"-fact. it isn! even dark outside. The

only reason it appears that way isthat we al'e told it is night. andtherefore conclude that i1 must bedark outside, Have you had a reallyclose look for yourself? Just atheory, mind you!

Back to the story! Being sunset, itwas, of course. time for the annualScott Base Sunset Swim. Aspromised. a great day appeared tobe had by all who attendedSunday's activities. The weatherpeople turned on .a real crar.ka of aday, as usual! With a tempera hire~~f-16.7°, and winds of 16 Knots, theI'rindchill was only -380 degreesCelsius which must be about thesame in foreignheight. So after atluir.k dip in the -2° water, to warmup, it was inside to warm up evennh.)re over the barbeque. Ye ha! BetY~)Ucant wait for mia-winter?

Well, maybe if they say i1 "is" night-time, then it'll be O.K if we allshoot off to bed! I'm keen. Oh, andbefore I :;;0, I was asked to mention'-'that would the person whoaccidently (we assume it was anaccident) ran over the rabbit on theScott Base road the other ni:;;hl,

L'

please clean the poor bunniesremains off the road. It's reallydisconcerting for drivers to have toveer around the little blotch on thesno"'l. At least have the decency togive him a proper burial. Sorry toend on a dull note.

Till next,Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!! !
