The Austin-Healey 3000 was producedfrom 1959 to 1967. The Healey's bodywork was made by Jensen Motors andthe vehicles were assembled by BMC(British Motor Company) in Abingdon,England. The Mark II edition arrived in1961. The main differences which theMark II offered, were the addition of awrap around wind screen and most
wrap around wind screen and mostimportantly the addition of wind upwindows. The Healey featured aStraight six cylinder engine and twinSU carburetors producing 132 H.Pwhich provided robust performance ina 2500 pound car. Girling front discbrakes, brought things to a halt in ahurry as needed. The Healey 3000was a successful sports car which wonit's class in many European rallies inthe 1960's, The Healey was also racedat most major racing circuits aroundthe world, and is still successfullyraced in historical competition eventstoday.
Affectionally known as the big Healey,our featured Austin-Healey 3000 MarkII was treated to a frame off restorationin 2005. The engine was rebuilt at thattime as well. The car is stunning inevery respect. It looks and drives well,especially compared to other sportscars of it's era. The Healey hasdeveloped a strong following over theyears and has become a realcollectable and has the recognition ofwhich it rightfully deserves. The AustinHealey 3000 was the sports car thatmany of us (myself included) dreamedof, but could not afford in the 60's. Thisstunning Healey will only continue toincrease in value as time goes by andthey become even more scarce.
