1940’S FASHION Fashion in the 1940’s was a mix of comfort and glamour, there were specific outfits that were meant for specific times of the day. Men still wore suits, ties and hats were commonplace in public. Women wore dresses and skirts in public. Women always wore gloves and usually a pair that matched their outfit. Fur was very popular as well as animal skins. Crocodile purses, wombat collars, lambskin lining and leather sleeves, no animal were off limits. Clothes in the 1940’s were very bright and colourful, the brighter they were the better. Women’s shoes were usually a choice of three colours and they were either red, white or blue.

1940S FASHION BY LUCY DESIGNER OF THE DECADE CHRISTIAN DIOR Christian Dior was a French couturier. He was nest known for his eponymous fashion house which is usually referred to as just Dior. Christian was born in the seaside town of Granville on the coast of Normandy, at the age of 5, Christian and his family moved to Paris, he was very artistic and he began to sell sketches on the streets to get pocket money.
