It was a very successful morning, with the children able to purchase an item(s) that I know would have been treas- ured by all Mum’s last Sunday. The students who had their mothers here at school for that special day were also super excited! Congratulations to our raffle winners. Please collect your prize from the office. Cold weather and Food The cold weather is upon us and all students need to have adequate lunch. Many students eat all of their food at first break and have nothing left for afternoon break. This makes it hard for them to con- centrate and manage the afternoon classes. Can you ask your child if they need extra food please, so that you can pack a little extra each day? I think we all need a little more food when the colder weath- er starts. Foods include extra sandwiches, more fruit and tubs of yoghurt. NAPLAN NAPLAN week is over. The school applied a plan around the implementation to ensure the program ran smoothly. It was important that all students went to bed early and had a good night’s sleep, a nourishing breakfast and were at school on time. This ensured they were prepared to do their best. Although, I just want to remind everyone, that this is one assessment on one day for all participating students. Thanks so much to all those parents who supported both their student and the school to en- sure NAPLAN was once again a success. Working with Children’s Check Are you helping at school? Are you part of the Parents & Friends Group? Are you on School Council? Do you assist with classroom activities? Do you attend camp / excursions? We are so pleased to have many parents/carers involved in our school programs this year. The appre- ciation expressed by students and staff is most heart-warming and I really want this involvement to continue. In order to make this possible the office requires a record of your Working with Children check on file. Please bring your card in to be copied or if you do not have a current Working with Children’s Check then you must obtain one asap. The office will be in touch with you.

CSEF (Camps, Sports & Excursion Fund)

Applications are now due for families who are Health Care Card holders to apply

for the funding - forms are available from the school office. When completing

your application please bring your current Health Care Card. THIS IS NEEDED

FOR THE APPLICATION TO BE PROCESSED. If the forms are not returned,

the school cannot provide a discount to families for these special events, even if

families are Health Care Card recipients. Applications will close on the 23rd of

June for 2017.

Head Lice

Thanks to those families who continue to check for head lice. This support enables us to limit the chances of head lice spreading.

Please continue to check hair at home and help us to become head lice free.

Head lice checks will occur every Friday and the first Monday of each term at school. You will receive a phone call from our

parent group of ‘trained head lice checkers’ if your child has any evidence of head lice (live lice and or eggs). You will be

required to collect your child from school and to treat their hair at home with a treatment purchased from the chemist.

This process will continue throughout the year so please accept these phone calls with their intended purpose. The school is

doing its best to support your child and their needs. Please let us know if we can help you in any way with advice.

Stay dry this weekend.

GOLD CARDS

This term we have combined our Gold Card exchange with Golden Time

on a Friday afternoon.

Students can earn gold cards by displaying behaviours that reflect our

schools values of Being Your Best, Respect, Responsibility and

Cooperation. Each term we will focus on one of our values, with this

terms focus being RESPECT. On Friday afternoon during Golden Time,

students can exchange their Gold Cards for a special activity. (Please see

poster for choices.)

We have also introduced the ‘Lightning Reef Platinum Card’. This card

is given to the whole class and is earned when all students in the class

work together, help each other and follow class expectations.
