COURSE DESCRIPTION AND STATEMENT OF NEED The 17th Annual Educational Meeting in Gastroenterology is a very special continuing medical education program designed to provide attendees with relevant information regarding new developments in gastroenterology and new approaches to managing gastrointestinal diseases. A group of national experts, including several renowned guest faculty, will present new findings and guidelines in a clinical context that will be useful in your gastroenterology practice. Throughout the years this program has been offered, the Center for Digestive Disease at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has not only provided this important annual educational event, but has also contributed significantly to changes in how gastroenterology is practiced worldwide. This two-day conference is intended for gastroenterologists and all other healthcare professionals who treat patients with gastrointestinal disorders. In addition to lecture-format presentations, the course will feature interactive instructional formats including debate and panel discussions, Q & A sessions, case discussions and interactive video presentations. We look forward to providing you with the latest advances and future direction in the multidisciplinary management of common, unique and complex gastrointestinal disorders.TARGET AUDIENCE This educational activity is intended for gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals who treat patients with gastrointestinal disorders.EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES • Review current autoimmune therapies for liver disease• Review and apply new guidelines for hepatitis• Evaluate the effectiveness of new primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) therapies• Recognize the risks associated with NASH progression• Review existing and new biologics for treating IBD• Manage issues in IBD including fertility, colorectal cancer, diet, imaging and fistulas• Assess the effectiveness of therapy to treat IBD and develop a personalized approach to treatment • Incorporate into practice the new North American Consensus Guidelines on using and interpreting breath testing• Recognize and diagnose post-infectious IBS• Apply practice techniques to identify root causes of constipation for improved treatment outcomes• Identify patients with NUD and select the best treatment option• Incorporate an algorithm of how to choose medical versus surgical therapies for GERD• Determine and apply technologies to help manage patients in meeting their goals for better health-care• Evaluate new treatment options for patients with short bowel syndrome• Describe the current indications for placement of a colonic stent in patients with colonic obstructionACCREDITATION STATEMENT Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.CREDIT DESIGNATION STATEMENT Cedars-Sinai Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 19 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
