Letter from The Lowenstein FamilyDear friends,

Thank you for joining the Path of Promise Gala team! This is a special opportunity to make a positive impact on a community of children in Augier, Haiti that are dear to our hearts. We are so grateful that you have committed your personal time and effort to making this Gala a success!

Over 10 years ago, we were called to give of our time, fi nances, and love to help an orphanage in Haiti. We didn’t know at that time that we were being led to not only support the Canaan Orphanage, but also to adopt a beautiful little girl. And led we were. Just after the earthquake in 2010, we were able to adopt our daughter Hannah. We continue to support the Orphanage in Haiti, but feel that more can be done, with the help of others like you.

We want to give those children who would not have an opportunity for adoption a chance to change their futures, and their communities for generations to come. So, we are partnering with Cross International to host the Path of Promise Gala. Through your support of the Gala we will pave a brighter future for Haiti’s orphans. Since 2001, Cross International has been serving the children and staff at Canaan; we are proud to partner with them for this worthy cause. The foundation is laid, much has been accomplished, but there continues to be much more that needs to be done. Your support for the Gala will equip and empower these children to change their futures.

The Gala is a celebration of how our community can come together to make a difference in the lives of these vulnerable children in Haiti. A lot of work and planning goes into a special event like this, and we can’t do it without you. I truly mean it when I say that your talents, skills, and labor are crucial to our effort to impact the lives of these precious children.

Please pray for God’s favor as we move forward to bring his love to “the least, the last and the lost.”

Again, welcome and thank you!

Jerry, Susan & Hannah Lowenstein

Making An Impact By Getting InvolvedCross International is proud to host our Path of Promise Gala at The Harbor Beach Marriott

Resort in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on Friday, October 18, 2013. By getting involved in this worthy event, you will support vulnerable children in Haiti. The night’s activities include dinner, and live and silent auctions. Join us to make a difference in the lives of these children in Haiti.

The Need ~ Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. In fact, 80 percent of its people live below the poverty line. It’s hard for a Haitian to explain to an American about life in Haiti. There are no words to convey the pervasive despair and hopelessness; or to adequately describe what it’s like to wake up every day with absolutely nothing. Orphans are left to fend for themselves. It is orphans such as the ones you just imagined that arrive at Canaan Orphanage, hungry, helpless, and hurting.

About Canaan Orphanage ~ For more than 20 years, Canaan has provided for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of Haiti’s orphaned and vulnerable children. Flanked by dusty, deforested hills, Canaan overlooks the Caribbean Sea — an oasis in a region marked by poverty. Living at Canaan, each child is assured safe shelter, three meals per day and loving support from a Christian community.

But Canaan is meeting much more than physical needs. They consider the holistic needs of each child in order to ensure long-term transformation — because Gladys Mecklembourg, co-founder of the Orphanage, has big dreams for the children in her care. “The goal of Canaan is to raise a new generation of Haitians. Kids that come out of Canaan have integrity and they know the Lord,” she says. “They have a vision for Haiti and they are out there studying to improve their lives.”

The Response ~ Cross International has been partnering with Canaan since 2001. Cross helps sustain Canaan’s many programs by covering various operational expenses, including food. We also provide salaries for the caring teachers and staff. But we can’t meet the urgent physical and spiritual needs of the children living at the Orphanage alone. It is only through the support of friends like you that make this worthy ministry possible!

Who We Are ~ We are a Christian ministry that serves the poorest of the poor internationally by channeling aid through existing churches or church-based ministries, cost-effectively helping the poor while advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our MissionCross International serves the poorest of the poor internationally by channeling aid through existing churches or church-based ministries, cost effectively helping the poor while advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How We Serve Rather than create new institutions to distribute aid, we support existing ministries and churches already serving the poor. In addition to being the most cost-effective way of helping the poor, empowering these ministries allows us to support the Church’s spiritual mission and its important position of leadership in poor communities.

Good Stewardship We consider every gift we receive as a precious resource from God. We direct every donation to its intended project, provide honest and accurate reports to our donors, and keep overhead costs to an industry low. We handle funds with utmost integrity and hold our ministry partners in the fi eld to the same high standards by asking them to document costs and the impact of their outreach. These detailed accountability measures have earned us ongoing accreditation by the following organizations:
