EvEntObjEctivE GALA FUnDRAiSinGretrospective of Chinese-American painter Jake Lee

The chinese Historical Society of America had the

opportunity to recover a series of paintings depicting the

history of Chinese-American workers who immigrated to

America from the turn of the century.

The fund-raising event was held to raise money for the

preservation and acquisition of these works, as well as

honoring the work of the

Angel IslAnd ImmIgrAtIon

stAtIon FoundAtIon.

The chinese Historical Society of America honored

individuals or associations for their work in bridging

the heritage of Chinese Americans to the community

of today.

The identity needed to have a reference to history, but

also relevant to current times.

The paintings are all watercolors, so they are

quite delicate, but have a wonderful tactile

quality when viewed up close.

The colors have a nice contrast of bright

saturated hues against softer backgrounds.
