The 34 year old graffiti girl, Panmela Castro, is a Brazilian artist who exploits graffiti as a platform toraise awareness on women’s rights and the popularity of domestic violence occurring to women inBrazil.

The graffiti girl, also known as Anarkia Boladona, hoped that through her art, women in Brazil wouldrealize that they have rights, and that there is legal protection for women.

Panmela has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the School of Fine Arts at the FederalUniversity of Rio de Janeiro, and is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts program at the StateUniversity of Rio de Janeiro. Panmela has earned herself a place among the most importantfigures in the Brazilian graffiti movement.

Her work, along with her leadership and creativity, led the Diller – von Furstenberg FamilyFoundation to honor Panmela at the DVF Awards in March of 2012.
