PANMELA CASTRO Graffiti Girl of the Day | The VandalList The 34 year old graffiti girl, Panmela Castro , is a Brazilian artist who exploits graffiti as a platform to raise awareness on women’s rights and the popularity of domestic violence occurring to women in Brazil. The graffiti girl, also known as Anarkia Boladona, hoped that through her art, women in Brazil would realize that they have rights, and that there is legal protection for women. Panmela has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts program at the State University of Rio de Janeiro. Panmela has earned herself a place among the most important figures in the Brazilian graffiti movement. I explore, I create, I dream: artistic experiences about the female body in the urban landscape .” Her work, along with her leadership and creativity, led the Diller – von Furstenberg Family Foundation to honor Panmela at the DVF Awards in March of 2012.
