Innovation and e-business expert, with 10 years of working experience inconsulting, coaching and training in entrepreneurship, businessdevelopment, management and digital enterprise management. Lecturerin e-business, e-government, innovation and Vietnam’s foreign-trade.

Aiming to contribute positively through teaching, researching, coaching,consulting and mentoring to the development of Vietnamese startups,social enterprises and young Vietnamese to be responsible leaders,managers and professionals. Profiles

In 2015, IPP organized Training of Trainers (ToT) program designed to provide essential knowledge and skills to professionals who will beengaged in Innovation Work – the process of creating new products or services that address an important need for potential customers. Thetraining is designed to provide these core knowledge and skills to Vietnamese citizens who will not only be able to facilitate successfulInnovation Projects, but will also be able to train others in conducting successful Innovation Work.

The first group were 12 Vietnamese Innovation Coaches who came from both public and private sectors backgrounds with a variety ofinternational experience. These individuals have been trained with the IPP Innovation Curriculum during an intensive two-month courseand an eight-month coaching practice in the Innovation Accelerator on a weekly basis with the innovation teams to help solve theirchallenges.

Upon completion of the program, these 12 individuals will graduate as Innovation Consultants on 23 of January 2016. From then onward theywill be free to work as agents of change within Vietnamese ecosystem.

Innovation Consultants in a Nutshell

Nguyen Giao HoaConsultant and Researcher

Hoa’s background is in chemical engineering. He is a proud fellow of theVietnam Education Foundation which generously funded his Ph.D.training in the US where he focused on using computational techniques toexplore novel properties of zeolites. After his training abroad, Hoa workedfor a few universities before moving to the private sector.

His current interests are manufacturing, computational engineering, andeducation. Hoa participated in consultant projects for factories inSouthern Vietnam and educational projects for technical institutions ofthe country. He also led research projects for vocational educationtraining innovation. Hoa is an avid reader and a formidable tennis player.

Tran Vu BinhEcosystem Developer

Bình has assisted a number of businesses in their creation, including activitiessuch as corporate restructuring as well as creating innovative products. He hascontributed to the success of the newly established and very dynamic andinnovative Hoa Sen University, where he is currently working. Before joining HoaSen University, he helped to develop Quang Trung Software Business Incubator,one of the first incubators in Vietnam designed to assist IT start-ups.

Bình has brought lean startup principles into each and every facet of his training,curriculum development, and consultancy. These principles help people who haveengaged with him via an iterative and validated learning cycle, allowing them toscale up their work in a more sustainable way.He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science, and a PhD in Computer Science forExpectation, Observation and Attention Logics from RMIT University, Australia.

Ngo Tho HungLecturer/Consultant at Asian Institute ofTechnology in Vietnam

Hung has a strong background in Engineering and Applied Sciences before workingon innovation and business consultancy. He also has experiences in setting up,managing, and fundraising for private companies related to technology transfer,applied sciences and international cooperation.Hung completed his PhD at Aarhus University, Denmark (2007-2010) on technologytransfer and international co-operation in environment protection and sustainabledevelopment using advanced technology.

Being an experienced lecturer and consultant, he can provide advisory on effecientmanagement of technology transfer activities through the use of best practicetechnological applications and updates on related government policies. He hasbeen involved in teaching and coaching activities in some internationally fundedprojects such as Vietnam Inclusive Innovation Project (VIIP), MPI Vietnam (WorldBank funded), IFC, WB, ADB, DFAT, USAid, Jica, EU horizon 2020.

Phan Tuan AnhFounder, Angels 4 Us

Tuan Anh Phan is founder of Angels 4 Us, an angel investor community inVietnam. Tuan Anh is also Advisor of SME Mentoring, 1 on 1 mentorshipprogram for startups. Prior to founding Angels 4 Us, Tuan Anh was afacilitator for entrepreneurship and business courses at the AmericanCenter in Ho Chi Minh City. Additionally, he has founded other companiessuch as Gekkospace and Thien An Investment and Consultancy.

At various times, Tuan Anh was a Visiting Lecturer at Saigon Institute ofTechnology, Kent International College, and RMIT Vietnam. He holds anMA in Entrepreneurial Management from European Business SchoolLondon (EBSL) and a a BA in Business Law & Commerce from BondUniversity in Australia.

Truong Thanh HungCo-Founder and Deputy Director, Centre forSustainable Production and Consumption;

Hung has fifteen years working in both development and business fields.As a senior practitioner and consultant with great concern for thedevelopment issues in Vietnam, he has worked for several donor-fundeddevelopment projects related to capacity building and start-upentrepreneurship development.

Hung is now a Co-founder and a Deputy Director of the Centre forSustainable Production and Consumption.His educational backgroundcomprises of a Master’s degree in International Business awarded by theIMC University of Applied Sciences Krems in Austria, and a Bachelor’sdegree in Business Administration.

Nguyen Hoang GiangVice Minister’s Secretary, Ministry of Science andTechnology

Giang graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business fromVietnam National Economics University. He worked for Yamaha Co.,Ltdand HUR oy Co.,Ltd for many years before getting an MBA in internationalbusiness from Birmingham City University.

After his MBA, Giang ran several businesses in media and FMCG before hestarted working for the Ministry of Science and Technology as MinisterialSecretariat. He strongly believes in the value of innovation and desires tosupport innovation programs in both the public and private sectors.

Nguyen Tien TrungFounder and Chairman, Kankyo Viet Nam JSC

Trung has 10 years of working and studying at Toyota. He understandsKaizen, JUST IN TIME, HEJUKA, Kanban, QCC (Quality Control Circle), TPS(Toyota Production System), and Lean manufacturing methodologies.Furthermore, he has 12 years of experience in Vietnam’s economy,specifically in the securities industry.Trung is now Founder and Chairman, Kankyo Viet Nam JSC. He is amember of the advisory board of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce andIndustry (VCCI), focused on its national entrepreneurship program. He isalso the Examiner for entrepreneurship agriculture program,entrepreneurship Forest program. He has advised and trained hundreds ofentrepreneurial projects.Trung’s educational background comprises of an MBA degree from theInternational Business School of Scandinavia.

John Phong K.Start Up Fanatic and Serial Entrepreneur

John was born in Bac Lieu, Vietnam and then moved to Australia. He wasraised and Educated in Melbourne where he graduated with a Law Degreefrom Deakin University and Ass. Diploma in International Trade fromRMIT. As an entrepreneur, he started a Transistor Clothing, which he grewto three stores and then sold.

Afterwards, he started an international printing services company whichhe is still operating. Currently, he is trying to launch several websitesincluding, mobideals.com.vn and bizdeals.net.au.

Phan Hoang Lan Researcher/Ecosystem Builder

Lan graduated with a Bachelors’ Degree in Economics from Smith College,US. She later pursued her Master degree in Economics for Development atthe University of Oxford, UK.

Lan has also spent some time working as a researcher in Seoul, SouthKorea and in an American company in Vietnam before moving to hercurrent position as a government official at the National Center forTechnology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Development(NATEC) under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).Her career goal is to help build a national-level ecosystem for innovativestartups in Vietnam.

Nguyen Ngoc DzungVice-Director, Technology Business Incubation Center

Dzung is now a Vice-Director of Ho Chi Minh City University ofTechnology – Technology Business Incubation Center (HCMUT-TBI). Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dzung, D.Sc. (Energy) has twelve years’experience in teaching at Automobile and Engine Department and over6 years as a senior researcher at Key-lab for Internal CombustionEngine. He is interested in developing new and emerging technology inthe fields of automobile engineering and new/renewable energy.

He graduated Bachelor degree in Vietnam (HCMUT, 2003), Master ofScience in Indonesia (Institute Technology of Bandung, 2006) andDoctor of Energy Science in Japan (Kyoto University, 2009).

Pham Dung Nam Ministry of Science and Technology

Vice Minister Secretary, Ministry of Science and TechnologyNam is a government official in Vietnam’s Ministry of Science andTechnology, currently assisting the Vice Minister on state management oftechnology transfer, technology innovation, technologycommercialization, and technology enterprise development.

With a PhD in computer science and startup experience, Nam isparticularly enthusiastic about the development of Vietnamese start-upsand is heavily involved in the process of building and implementing legalframework to support the development of the start-up ecosystem inVietnam.
