Dear Parents
Faction Sports Carnival
On Friday the 30th August, it was wonderful to see so many families come along to watch their children compete. This was the second year of the one-day format with team games and running events occurring at the same time. As with last year, the format was very successful with a high level of student engagement. I would like to acknowledge our Faction Captains and Vice Captains for their work and support throughout the day. Many of them had an early start and a late finish.
This year saw more opportunities for parents to be involved with the introduction of the parent Flag Race and Student, Staff Parents Leader Ball and Relays. It was great to see so many parents take the opportunity to join in. The children were well entertained by the spectacle. Congratulations to Wayne Sherrin on being the inaugural winner of the parent’s Flag Race. A big thank you to Sharon Green from the School Canteen, Tasty Tukka, for donating the prize of $30 credit at the canteen.
Once again I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the P&C for their contribution and organisation in providing the sausage sizzle for the children and the food and refreshments for parents and community members.
I have received some great feedback regarding the day. The feedback includes the great atmosphere throughout the day, the enthusiasm of the students and the level of engagement of parents, and being one of the best faction carnivals they have attended over the years. Well done to everyone involved and thank you to the Physical Education Teachers.
Interschool Athletics Carnival
The Interschool Athletics Carnival is on next week. This year Hocking Primary School is the host school, however, the jumps and throws will be held at Carramar Primary School on Wednesday 18th of September. The main events sprints, relays and team games will be held at Hocking Primary School on Friday 20th September. We wish all our students the best.
This year the team will be wearing a new School Athletic Singlet. The singlets were kindly donated by the P&C. The students look great in them.
Derek Bowen
As many of our families would know, Derek was the
School’s Crossing Guard for many years. Earlier this week
we were informed by Derek’s family that he passed away.
On behalf of the whole school community we offer our
condolences to his family at this sad time. Derek was well
regarded and had a special place in the heart of many of our
staff, students and families. He will always be remembered
for his good nature.

Staff Car Parks
Unless you are displaying an ACROD sticker on your vehicle, please do not use
the staff car parks for dropping off or collecting children.
This is a safety issue and must be adhered to by everyone.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD This year Carramar Primary School will again participate in ‘Operation Christmas Child’, a program run by the non-profit organisation Samaritan’s Purse.
Samaritan’s Purse provides emergency relief and development assistance to suffering people around the world, including Australia. Through Operation Christmas Child we will be sending gift filled shoe-boxes to children, providing them with some help, hope and happiness.
We are asking that families help support this program by collecting shoeboxes from admin, (from Monday, 9 Sept. 2019) and packing them together with their family and friends.
It will be wonderful to see each box filled with something to love, something for school, something to wear, something to play with, something for personal hygiene and something special.
Due to export and import laws, there are strict guidelines to follow when filling the boxes; each box comes with a brochure which provides ideas and information about what to pack.
You may use your own empty shoe box (just cover it with some colourful wrapping paper) or you may collect pre-printed shoeboxes from the front office at any time from now up until the end of September.
Completed shoeboxes may be returned to Room 2 by Friday, 27 September 2019.
Some teachers may also be packing boxes as a class activity and they will inform you of any requirements they may have.

The Year 1's have been learning all about Australian Animals this term, and last Wednesday they were lucky to have a special visit from West Oz Wildlife. We met Keira the Koala, Yappa the Dingo, 2 snakes and both a Bobtail and Blue Tongue Lizard. The students enjoyed learning about the distinctive features of these native animals and were able to pat them as well. The teachers were so amazed at how many students were brave enough to hold a python around their necks!
