Repository - Collection of Deployment Packages.

Topology – Resource definition of a PeopleSoft system. Define compute nodes and PSFT services running on nodes.

Template - Topology + Application Package. Defines a complete PeopleSoft environment.

Environment - PeopleSoft instance running on Cloud. Instance of a Template.

• Local – Run utility on same node as the PSFT components (app/web/database)

– Middle tier (APP) and database (DB) instances are lifted separately

• Remote – Run on a different node that has owner access to PSFT components

– Provide Host name, User name, and either SSH key or password for middle tiers • DON’T USE SPECIAL CHARACTERS IN A PASSWORD

• Option to create and save DPKs, or create, save and upload to cloud – Cloud Username, Password and Domain are prompted if uploading to Object Storage

• Use the ‘psadm’ user for the app server, and the ‘oracle’ user for database

• For PSFT database, provide the CDB, PDB and destination

Common Questions and Helpful Hints


Are only certain PeopleSoft releases certified or supported on Oracle Cloud?

• PeopleSoft certifies Operating System, Database and other infrastructure software components

• PeopleTools PROVIDES the other required infrastructure (not OS/DB)

• PeopleSoft customers have always had choice for Hardware/OS and Database platform

• PeopleSoft customers MAY use Oracle Cloud without explicit certification if the version they use certifies the Linux version on Oracle Compute

– PeopleTools 8.55 and above includes features which specifically assist Cloud Deployment through automation

Is “Production” supported? If yes, are there any prerequisites such as RAC or OMCS?

• Yes “Production” is supported (including DBCS/RAC). To facilitate more complex deployments, PeopleSoft Product Development is currently testing additional system configurations and developing additional automation options, particularly using PeopleSoft Cloud Manager.

• Cloud Manager requires 9.2 applications using Oracle 12c database

– Decoupled PS_HOME

– Pluggable Database (PDB) support

• Requirements for “Lift and Shift”: PT 8.55, Oracle 11.2.0.4+, 9.2 apps

• Leveraging OMCS or Oracle’s PeopleSoft Managed Services Partners will be advantageous.

Explain the licensing model - BYOL, IaaS, DBCS...

• Oracle’s Compute Cloud uses a “Bring your Own License (BYOL)” model:

– Bring your PeopleSoft license to Oracle Compute Cloud

– Bring your PeopleTools license to Oracle Compute Cloud

– Bring your DB license to Oracle Compute Cloud

• Customers need to acquire a subscription to Oracle Compute Cloud, but do not require any additional PeopleSoft licenses

• Customers who wish to deploy their PeopleSoft database on DBCS or on the Exadata CS will require a subscription to these services

• Windows Server is provided with an Oracle Cloud subscription


Helpful Hints

• When you ssh into the Linux VM for the first time, the password for user OPC must be changed. The current password is OracleCloud


Helpful Hints

• When changing the OPC password, the new password is rather restrictive – ensure you use upper/lower case, numbers and special characters. Be sure your password does not resemble any words.

• When you run the bootstrap DPK through ssh (PuTTY), create a cheat sheet containing all the user IDs and passwords.

• Pay close attention to the password requirements that are noted in the prompts from the bootstrap DPK. Failures due to invalid passwords in the downstream process can be frustrating.


Helpful Hints

• The WebLogic Server Admin password must contain:

– Minimum 8 characters

– At least 1 uppercase character

– At least 1 lowercase character

– At least 1 number

• Documentation on passwords can be found in the app specific PeopleSoft PT 8.55 Deployment Packages Installation manual, which is found on the PUM homepage.


Helpful Hints

• When creating your VM in Oracle Compute, be sure that the default security list is added.
