Workflow Concepts

• Workflow systems enable multiple step processes for varied content types, cross-departmental staff, and required actions, such as submit, review, and/or approve.

• For CMS, workflows automate the processes of the content lifecycle, defining dates when content is reviewed, archived, or destroyed

• Various people (roles) get involved, such as content authors, content owners, and content approvers

Identify content types that have distinct workflows

• Methodology to follow:– Number of participants– Review/edit tasks (who, how frequently?)– New content approvals (required before content is

published?)– Tagging (new and updates)– Archiving (what, how frequently?)

Follow this general methodology (art, not a science)
