The importance of technology-based tools in managing highway-based freight movements will be presented.  Hear the important role that automated tools will increasingly play in truck enforcement programs and get updates on interesting research being conducted to advance the development and deployment of automated enforcement techniques.

What Can We Do?

Government resources for safety and enforcement not keeping pace with the increases in volumes and vehicles– Human and Infrastructure capacity

Need to work smarter– Use of data and analysis

– Target activities where they have the most impact

– Technology can act as a congestion management and risk mitigation tool and a force multiplier for enforcement

– Coalition building and strategy execution at federal, regional, state and local levels

– Work with private sector to incentivize positive behavior
