Why are we concerned with Student-Faculty Interaction?

• Higher levels of student and faculty engagement translate to higher student success rates.

• The benchmark for student-faculty interaction at HawCC has fairly consistently ranked at the lowest level of engagement for our college.

• The student-faculty interaction benchmark measure has dropped for each the last 3 reporting years.

• For 2 of 3 reporting years we have tied all the other UHCC’s for last place on the student-faculty interaction measure.

• If we could better understand the root causes for these lower levels of engagement, we can help our students become more successful.

• What are our students telling us?

Ideas?

• Do we have enough information to make an informed decision about next steps?

• Do we need to involve our students in this discussion to find out why they answered the survey questions like they did?

• Is there ONE thing we could agree on, that we could do to help improve this measure?
