Flow Direction: the arrows or chevrons on an ammonia pipe label indicate flow direction. Only one arrow is required, but two arrows are recommended. If one arrow is used, then the right-side arrow is preferred and this left-side arrow may be omitted. 2. Ammonia Piping Component Type: this segment identifies the role this portion of the piping system plays. Use the abbreviations table to the right to determine which code to use. 3. Physical State: use only one of the following two state stripes: a. Vapor: white on blue or black on blue label indicating vapor. The abbreviation “VAP” may be used. b. Liquid: black on orange indicates liquid. The abbreviation “LIQ” may be used. 4. Ammonia System ID: “AMMONIA” in large black on yellow indicates this is a part of the ammonia system. 5.
