her battle with cancer last week. Jacqui will be remem-bered as a lovely lady and a beautiful artist. PRESIDENT’S PALETTEPRESIDENT’S PALETTE

TTHE 5th Rotary/Art Society Charity Art Show has proven to be the best since its inception

and it now gives hope for an exciting future of development of ‘local art’ and to raise more funds for ‘local charities’. It is no secret that local artists do not have enough good venues that attract a good number of buyers and art lovers but there are several excellent facilities for social art exhibitions and they are appreciated. The venue for the 5th Rotary/Art Society Charity Art Show in City Walk Canberra attracted 300 viewers every day for a week over Floriade and the sales were from interstate, regional and local. To have this success under Defence tents in all kinds of weather speaks volumes for the quality of our local artists and the need to have them displayed to a wider audience. I believe there is room in the Regional Calendar to hold two of this type of Outdoor Art Shows a year but would not suggest we venture into this without a much larger commitment from all involved or a major sponsor. Where does one start to thank those who pulled this huge venture together ? Both Rotary and the Art Society ‘workers’ need mention, the sponsors, the donation of Defence tents and of course our artists for supporting the Art Show. I will talk about the annual Queanbeyan City Council Exhibition next month. Again thanks to all for the success of the Art Show!Again thanks to all for the success of the Art Show!

WWILDLIFEILDLIFE and Botanical Artists Inc. presented a wonderful Exhibition of their members

art at the Queanbeyan Q and several QAS Society members were well represented. Six of the Society members are pictured at the opening night and include Tony Tony and Arlene WilliamsArlene Williams, Jeff IsaacsJeff Isaacs, Belinda IngramBelinda Ingram, Karen Hall Karen Hall and Jean HelmersJean Helmers. It was good to see Arlene, Jeff, Belinda and Karen entered works. The Wildlife and Botanical Artists Inc. is growing and many of our members belong to both art groups. It is noticeable the wildlife and botanical works appearing in the Society Exhibitions.

NEW SKYLIGHTS FOR WORKING GALLERYNEW SKYLIGHTS FOR WORKING GALLERY TTHE committee had two skylights fitted in the

Working Gallery. Talk about light up your life!! Just beaut – right over the work table.. Due to roof structure we have one either side of the manhole in the ceiling. Being Tuesday there was a class on with the wonderful Jenny – (such a good tutor). We took the liberty of asking the class for their input. After discussion it was decided we could do with two more such lights – one at each end of the room - towards the back wall – also to do with ceiling structure constraints. The two extra skylights are now fitted.

The Monday group are pictured with three of the four skylights.
