    OVERHEAD COILING DOORS

    1. PART 1 - GENERAL

    1.01 SECTION INCLUDES

    A. Galvanized steel and aluminum overhead coiling doors,operating hardware, manual and electric operation.

    1.03 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

    A. Electrically operated unit with overhead counterbalance device and manual override in case of powerfailure.

    B. Fire rated doors with fire alarm system and mechanicalcontrol sudden fast closing.

    1.04 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

    A. Design door assembly to withstand wind/suction load of20 psf, without undue deflection or damage to door orassembly components.

    B. Doors shall be fire-rated in accordance with theratings specified on Drawings.

    C. Electrical Components: UL listed.

    1.05 SUBMITTALS

    A. Shop Drawings: Indicate pertinent dimensioning,anchorage methods, hardware locations, and installationdetails.

    B. Product Data: Provide general construction, componentconnections and details, electrical equipment, andwiring.

    C. Samples: Submit 2 door slats, 600 mm long in sizeillustrating shape, color and finish texture.

    D. Manufacturer's Installation Instructions: Indicateinstallation sequence and procedures, adjustment andalignment procedures.

    E. Provide certificate of compliance from indicatingapproval of door and operating hardware assembly.

    1.06 MAINTENANCE DATA

    A. Submit maintenance data indicating lubricationrequirements and frequency, periodic adjustmentsrequired.

    2.01 MATERIALS

    A. Metal Re-Coiling Doors

    1. Curtain: Manufacturer standard curtain complyingwith the requirements indicated on Drawings and

    conforming to the following:

    a. Slats: Standard flat faced galvanized steel oraluminum slats as indicated in drawings. Steelshutter doors conforming to ASTM A 526 steel,galvanized to minimum 380g/m

    2coating in

    accordance with ASTM A 525. Aluminum shutterdoors conforming to ASTM B 209, and B 221 withpowder coating finish 60-80 micron thickness.Doors shall be single thickness slat with endlocks fixed in salts ends UL standard.

    b. Nominal Slat Size: 75 wide x required length.

    c. Slat Ends: Each slat fitted with end locks toact as wearing surface in guides and to preventlateral movement.

    d. Curtain Bottom: Fitted with angles to providereinforcement and positive contact with floorin closed position.

    2. Guides:

    A. Steel doors: Guides shall be structural steel,3/16 inch thick, continuous, vertical mounted;with polyester powder coating.

    B. Aluminum doors: Guides shall be extrudedaluminum section, alloy 6063-T6 of profile toretain shutters in place and with mountedbrackets of same metal.

    3. Roller Shaft Counterbalance: Steel pipe and steelspring system, capable of producing torquesufficient to assure smooth operation of curtainfrom any position; with adjustable spring tension.

    4. Hood Enclosure: 24 gage thick, galvanized steelinternally reinforced to maintain rigidity andshape. Equip hood with UL listed smoke seals.

    5. Hardware: Provide manufacturer standard lockingdevices, Handles as required for proper dooroperation.

    2.02 ELECTRIC OPERATOR

    A. Electric Operator: ANSI/UL 325, side or center mountedand in accordance with the following:- Motor Enclosure: NEMA MG1, TEFC.

    - Motor Rating: As recommended by door manufacturerto match door size and weight and as per theEngineer approval.

    - Motor Controller: NEMA ICS 2, full voltage,reversing magnetic motor starter.

    - Controller Enclosure: NEMA 250, type as recommendedby door manufacturer.

    - Door Speed: 300 mm/s

    - Brake: Adjustable friction clutch type, activatedby motor controller.

    B. Control Station: Standard 3 button (Open-Close-Stop)control for each operator; 24 volt circuit; surfacemounted.

    2.03 MANUAL OPERATOR

    A. Manual Operator: Provide manufacturer standard, manualemergency door operators.

    2.04 FINISHES

    A. Curtain Slats (Aluminum shutters): Aluminum surfacesshall have the manufacturer's standard finish, anodizedor powder-coated as indicated on Drawings and inaccordance with the following:

    1. Anodized Finish: Conform to AA C22A42; 22 micronthick; with shop-applied protective coating ofclear acrylic lacquer or any coating in accordancewith AAMA 602.2, 0.5 mil dry film thickness, overanodized finish. Color shall be as approved by theEngineer.

    2. Powder Coated Finish: 60 - 80 micron thick. Colorshall be approved by the Engineer.

    B. Curtain Slats (Metal shutters): Pre-coated paintfinish, color as selected.

    C. Steel Guides and Hood Enclosure (Metal shutters): Primepaint and prepare for paint finish.

    2.05 SECURITY GRADE OVERHEAD COILING DOORS

    A. Security grade overhead coiling doors should beprovided for detention car parking areas and shall be astandard product produced by single manufacturerspecialist in this production range.

    B. Door slats and guides shall be manufactured of flatfaced heavy gauge galvanized steel sheets conforming toASTM A 526 steel, galvanized to minimum 380g/m

    2coating

    in accordance with ASTM A 525.

    C. Security grade overhead coiling doors manufacturer,materials, accessories, fittings and hardware shallbe subject to the Engineer approval.

    D. Security overhead coiling doors shall be provided withbuzzer activated indictors to indicate openingposition, the indictors shall be controlled throughpanel board to be located in the control locationindicated on drawings.

    E. Electric circuits wiring and components for doorcontrol operation shall be concealed with fullprotection.

    F. Security doors shall be without exposed sharp edges orremovable parts. Doors shall be furnished withcomplete heavy security grade hardware, fittings,accessories, electrical and mechanical equipment, andall necessary fasteners for proper installation asper the manufacturer instructions andrecommendations.

    3. PART 3 - EXECUTION

    3.01 EXAMINATION

    A. Verify that opening sizes, tolerances and conditionsare acceptable.

    3.02 INSTALLATION

    A. Install door unit assembly in accordance withmanufacturer's instructions and recommendations.

    B. Use anchorage devices to securely fasten assembly towall construction and building framing withoutdistortion or stress.

    C. Securely brace components suspended from structure.Secure guides to structural members only.

    D. Fit and align assembly including hardware; level andplumb, to provide smooth operation.

    E. Installation of Electrical Service: Comply with therequirements of Section 16050 - BASIC ELECTRICALMATERIALS AND METHODS. Complete wiring from disconnect

    to unit components and from fire alarm system to dooroperator.

    F. Apply sealants and backing materials at frame perimeteras required by Section 07900 - SEALANTS.

    G. Install perimeter trim and closures.

    3.03 ERECTION TOLERANCES

    A. Maintain dimensional tolerances and alignment withadjacent work.

    B. Maximum Variation From Plumb: 1.5 mm.

    C. Maximum Variation From Level: 1.5 mm.

    D. Longitudinal or Diagonal Warp: Plus or minus 3 mm per3 m straight edge.

    3.04 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING

    A. Adjust shutter, hardware and operating assemblies.

    B. Clean door and components.

    C. Remove labels and visible markings.
