    8 Configuring Service at Single Station This chapter introduces how to configure service at single station.

    8.1 Configuring SDH Service at Single Station

    8.1.1 Creating Common Service

    Purpose

    Configuring single station SDH service is to directly configure service on the cross-connect unit of respective units.

    With the service configuration on respective stations completed, the service configuration for the whole network is finished accordingly.

    Prerequisites

    NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

    A protection subnet has been created.

    Procedure

    Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/SDH Configuration/SDH Service

    Configuration] from the Main Menu.

    2 In the lower-left pane, select the appropriate NE and click the double-right-arrow button (red).

    3 Click to query the SDH service information from the NE.

    4 Click . The Create SDH Service dialog box is displayed.

    Step Action 5 Configure the parameters of the source and the sink. Click .

    Note: If the protection subnetwork to be used is a unidirectional ring, select the service direction to be unidirectional, and select bidirectional for the protection subnetwork being a bidirectional ring.

    8.1.2 Creating SNCP Service

    Purpose

    To create SNC services, create two unidirectional services respectively from the tributary unit to two direction of the ring (dual-fed services) first, and then create SNC services (selectively received services) from the east and west line units to the tributary unit.

    Prerequisites

    NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

    A protection subnet has been created.

    Procedure

    1. Configuring dual-fed service Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/SDH Configuration/SDH Service

    Configuration] from the Main Menu.

    2 In the lower-left pane, select the appropriate NE and click the double-right-arrow button (red).

    3 Click to query the SDH service information from the NE.

    4 Click . The Create SDH Service dialog box is displayed.

    5 Configure the service to the east line unit. Click .

    Note: The service is unidirectional.

    Step Action 6 Configure the service to the west line unit. Click .

    2. Create selectively received services Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/SDH Configuration/SDH Service

    Configuration] from the Main Menu.

    2 In the lower-left pane, select the appropriate NE and click the double-right-arrow button (red).

    3 Click to query the SDH service information from the NE.

    4 Click . The Create SNC Service dialog box is displayed.

    Step Action 5 Configure the working and protection service. Click .

    Note: The service from the west line should be the working service.

    8.1.3 Transfering SNCP Service to Common Service

    Purpose

    Use this procedure to transfer SNCP service to common service.

    Prerequisites

    NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

    SNCP service has been created.

    Procedure

    Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/SDH Configuration/SDH Service

    Configuration] from the Main Menu.

    2 In the lower-left pane, select the appropriate NE and click the double-right-arrow button (red).

    Step Action 3 Click to query the SDH service information from the NE.

    4 Click to display the service one by one. Right-click the SNCP service and select Convert to Common Service. The protection service will be deleted.

    5 Right-click one of the dual-fed services and select . The Confirm dialog box is displayed. Click .

    6 Right-click the deactivated service and select . The Confirm dialog box is displayed. Click .

    8.1.4 Transfering Common Service to SNCP Service

    Purpose

    Use this procedure to transfer common service to SNCP service.

    Prerequisites

    NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

    Service has been created.

    Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/SDH Configuration/SDH Service

    Configuration] from the Main Menu.

    2 In the lower-left pane, select the appropriate NE and click the double-right-arrow button (red).

    3 Click to query the SDH service information from the NE.

    4 Click to display the service one by one. Right-click the service to be transferred and select Convert to SNC. The dialog box Specify the service to be protected is displayed.

    8.2 Configuring ATM Service at Single Station

    Purpose

    Use this procedure to configure the ATM service. Then the ATM service can be transmitted over SDH.

    Prerequisites

    NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

    Supported by OptiX 2500+(Metro 3000) and OptiX Metro 3100.

    Fibers and protection subnet have been created at the service layer.

    ATM board has been installed.

    Procedure

    1. Setting the VC4 ports of ATM board as SDH NNI Step Action 1 Set the VC4 ports of ATM board as SDH NNI. The detailed

    operations are described in 9.4.1 Setting the VC4 Ports of ATM Board as SDH NNI.

    2. Installing the ATM interface board at NM side Step Action 1 Install the ATM interface board at NM side. The detailed operations

    are described in 9.4.2 Installing the ATM Interface Board at NM Side.

    3. Creating the corresponding VC4 crossconnection between the ATM and the line board

    6 Repeat this procedure to create as many cross-connections as necessary.

    4. Configuring the port attributes of ATM board Step Action 1 Configure the port attributes of ATM board. The detailed operations

    are described in 9.4.3 Configuring the Port Attributes.

    5. Configuring the ATM traffic Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/ATM Configuration/ATM Traffic Descriptor]

    from the Main Menu.

    2 In the lower-left pane, select the appropriate NE and click the double-right-arrow button (red).

    3 Query the traffic information of an ATM board. Click to display the information from the NE side and overwrite that at the NM side with it.

    4 Right-click in the ATM Traffic Descriptor and select [Create]. The Create Traffic Descriptor dialog box is displayed.

    Step Action 5 Set the flow parameters. Such as Type, Service Type,

    Clp01Pcr, Clp0Pcr, Clp01Scr, Clp0Scr, MCR and MBS.

    6 Click or . The Operation Result dialog box is displayed and indicates that the operation succeeded.

    7 Repeat this procedure to configure as many traffic descriptors as necessary.

    6. Configuring the cross-connect of ATM service Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/ATM Configuration/ATM Service

    Management] from the Main Menu.

    2 In the lower-left pane, select the appropriate NE and click the double-right-arrow button (red).

    3 Right-click in the Cross-Connect and select [Add Connection]. The Add ATM Cross-Connection dialog box is displayed.

    Step Action 4 Set the Connection ID, Protection Type, Spread Type, Set

    Port, VPI, VCI, Positive/Reverse Traffic Descriptor of Source/Sink Board, and so on, as required.

    Note: The positive/negative traffic descriptor can only be selected in the flow descriptor creation during the ATM traffic configuration. Otherwise, a message prompting error is displayed.

    5 Click or . The Operation Result dialog box is displayed and indicates that the operation succeeded.

    6 Repeat this procedure to configure as many cross-connections of ATM service as necessary.

    7. Configuring the protection group and protection pair of ATM service (Optional)

    Note: If the No protection is selected for "Protection Type, the protection group and protection pair of the ATM service do not need configuration.

    Step Action 1 Create multiple cross-connections of ATM service with "Protection

    Type being 1+1.

    Note: 1) Currently, the equipment does not support ATM 1: 1 protection.

    2) The PVP and p2p type must be adopted for ATM 1+1 protection.

    2 Activate the cross connections. Select the record and right-click it, select [Activate Connection].

    3 Create protection group. Right-click in the Protection Group and select [Add Protection Group]. The Add Protection Group dialog box is displayed.

    4 Set the Protection Type, Switching Direction, Switching Type, Revertive Mode, and Pause Time of the protection group.

    Note: 1) Currently, the equipment does not support dual-ended switching.

    2) If switching type is the source end, the protection pair is required to be set as the one with the same sink but different sources.

    3) If switching type is the sink end, the protection pair is required to be set as the one with the same source but different sinks.

    5 Click or . The Operation Result dialog box is displayed and indicates that the operation succeeded.

    Step Action 6 Add a pair of cross-connections into the protection group.

    Right-click in the Cross-Connect and select [Add into Protection Group]. The Add Connection into Protection Group dialog box is displayed.

    7 Select Working Connection ID, Protection Connection ID and Protection Group ID.

    8 Click or . The Operation Result dialog box is displayed and indicates that the operation succeeded.

    9 Repeat this procedure to configure as many protection groups and protection pairs as necessary.

    8.3 Configuring Ethernet Service at Single Station

    8.3.1 Creating Transparently Transmitted Ethernet Service

    Purpose

    The transparent transmission of Ethernet service is implemented through setting static routes by:

    Port

    Port + VLAN.

    The port here can be either the MAC (media access control) port or VCTRUNK port of the Ethernet board. Usually, the transparent transmitted Ethernet service is applied to point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connection.

    The transparent transmission of Ethernet service enables each set-up route to have a fixed bandwidth and performance. When one more service is created, connections must be created between the nodes on the trail.

    The transparent transmission of Ethernet service is applicable to simple networks. The network performance can be improved through reasonable settings and the use of static route. Moreover, bandwidth can be reserved for important services.

    Prerequisites

    NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

    Fibers and protection subnet have been created at the service layer.

    Supported by the some Ethernet boards (except EFS/EGS/EMS);

    The Ethernet board has been installed.

    Procedure

    1. Setting the VC4 port of Ethernet board as SDH NNI (Optional)

    Note: Only the following equipments Ethernet boards need SDH NNI configuration:

    z OptiX Metro 3100

    z OptiX 2500+(Metro 3000).

    z OptiX 155/622H(Metro 1000)

    Step Action 1 Set the VC4 port of Ethernet board as SDH NNI. The detailed

    operations are described in 9.3.1 Setting the VC4 Ports of Ethernet Board as SDH NNI.

    2. Installing the Ethernet interface board at NM side (Optional)

    Note: The Ethernet interface unit of some equipment such as the OptiX 155/622H(Metro1000) integrates the Ethernet board and interface board on itself. So, no independent Ethernet interface board configuration is needed, and this step can be omitted.

    For other equipment such as the OptiX 2500+(Metro3000) and OptiX Metro 3100, their Ethernet boards and interface boards are separated; the configuration of Ethernet interface board is needed. Then, this step is mandatory.

    Step Action 1 Install the Ethernet interface board at NM side. The detailed

    operations are described in 9.3.2 Installing the Ethernet Interface Board at NM Side.

    3. Configuring the port attributes and binding paths of Ethernet board Step Action 1 Configure internal port attributes. The detailed operations are

    described in 9.3.3 Configuring Internal Port.

    2 Configure external port attributes. The detailed operations are described in 9.3.4 Configuring External Port.

    3 Configure binding path. The detailed operations are described in 9.3.3 Configuring Binding Path.

    4. Creating the corresponding VC12 cross-connection between the Ethernet and the line board

    Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/SDH Configuration/SDH Service

    Configuration] from the Main Menu.

    2 In the lower-left pane, select the appropriate NE and click the double-right-arrow button (red).

    3 Click , the Create SDH Service dialog box is displayed.

    5. Configuring the static Ethernet route Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/Ethernet Configuration/Ethernet Transparent

    Transmit/Static Route Management] from the Main Menu.

    2 In the lower-left pane, select appropriate NE and click double-right-arrow button(red).

    3 Query the static route information of the selected Ethernet board from the NE side. Click to display it

    4 Click , or right-click in the Static Route and select [Create]. The Create Route is displayed.

    Step Action 5 Set the parameters of static route. Set the Index and select the

    Type, Direction, Source Port Type, Source Port, Source VLAN, Sink Port Type, Sink Port and Sink VLAN.

    Note: If the value of Type is Port Route, the Source VLAN and Sink VLAN can not be edited.

    6 Click or . The Operation Result dialog box is displayed and indicates that the operation succeeded.

    7 Repeat this procedure to create as many static routes as necessary.

    8.3.2 Creating Layer 2 Switching Ethernet Service

    Purpose

    The most distinctive difference between the Layer 2 switching and transparent transmission of the Ethernet service is that the former makes the Ethernet network something like a LAN. Adding only a connection to this LAN can create a service and ensure the multipoint connection in the whole network. Moreover, the bandwidth can be allocated flexibly and the network utility can be improved.

    Prerequisites

    NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

    Fibers and protection subnet have been created at the service layer.

    2. Installing the Ethernet interface board at NM side (Optional)

    Note: The Ethernet interface unit of some equipment such as the OptiX 155/622H(Metro1000) integrates the Ethernet board and interface board on itself. So, no independent Ethernet interface board configuration is needed, and this step can be omitted.

    For other equipment such as the OptiX 2500+(Metro3000) and OptiX Metro 3100, their Ethernet boards and interface boards are separated; the configuration of Ethernet interface board is needed. Then, this step is mandatory.

    Step Action 1 Install the Ethernet interface board at NM side. The detailed

    operations are described in 9.3.2 Installing the Ethernet Interface Board at NM Side.

    4. Creating Ethernet user Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/Ethernet Configuration/Ethernet Layer 2

    Switching/Ethernet User Management] from the Main Menu.

    2 In lower-left pane, select the appropriate NE and click the double-right-arrow (red).

    3 Click , or right-click in the Ethernet User Management and select [Create]. The Create User dialog box is displayed.

    Step Action 4 Enter the User Name and User ID in the Create User.

    5 Click . The Operation Result dialog box is displayed and indicates that the operation succeeded.

    6 Repeat this procedure to create as many users as necessary.

    5. Configuring the port attributes and binding paths of Ethernet board Step Action 1 Configure internal port attributes. The detailed operations are

    described in 9.3.3 Configuring Internal Port.

    Note: During the internal port attribute configuration for the Ethernet interface, it should be noted that the IDs of users created must be typed in the corresponding list in the Port Attributes tab for internal ports and external ports, thus to associate the users with the ports, as shown in the diagram below.

    Step Action 2 Configure external port attributes. The detailed operations are

    described in 9.3.4 Configuring External Port.

    Note: During the internal port attribute configuration for the Ethernet interface, it should be noted that the IDs of users created must be typed in the corresponding list in the Port Attributes tab for internal ports and external ports, thus to associate the users with the ports, as shown in the diagram below.

    3 Configure binding path. The detailed operations are described in 9.3.3 Configuring Binding Path.

    6. Creating VLAN Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/Ethernet Configuration/Ethernet Layer 2

    Switching/Forwarding Filter Table Management] from the Main Menu. Select the tab VLAN.

    2 In lower-left pane, select the appropriate Ethernet board and click the double-right-arrow (red).

    3 Click . The Create VLAN dialog box is displayed.

    Step Action 4 Enter the information of this VLAN. Select the User, specify the

    VLAN ID, and select the appropriate ports as forwarding ports.

    6 Repeat this procedure to create as many VLANs as necessary.

    8.3.3 Creating EPL Service

    Purpose

    Use this procedure to configure the EPL service at single station.

    Prerequisites

    NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

    Fibers and protection subnet have been created at the service layer.

    Supported by the some Ethernet boards (including EFS/EGS/EMS).

    The Ethernet process board and the corresponding interface board have been installed.

    1. Configuring the port attributes and binding paths of Ethernet board Step Action 1 Configure internal port attributes. The detailed operations are

    Note: The value of Port Type must be PE.

    3. Creating EPL service Step Action 1 Select [Configuration/Ethernet Configuration/Ethernet Service] from

    the Main Menu. Select the tab Ethernet Leased Line Service.

    2 In the lower-left pane, select appropriate Ethernet board and click the double-right-arrow button (red).

    3 Click . The Create Ethernet Leased Line Service dialog box is displayed.

    4 Enter the information of the EPL service. Select Service Direction, Source Port, Source Port VLAN ID, Sink Port, Sink Port VLAN ID.

    Note: 1) The value of Enable Port in the Port Attribute can be modified. However, if the port attribute has been configured, keep the default values.

    2) If there are no appropriate binding paths in the Binding Path, Click to bind new path. The detailed operations are described in 9.3.3 Configuring Binding Path.

    5 Click or . The Operation Result dialog box is displayed and indicates that the operation succeeded.

    6 Repeat this procedure to create as many EPLs as necessary.

    8.3.4 Creating EVPL Service

    Purpose

    Use this procedure to configure the EVPL service at single station.

    Prerequisites

    NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

    Fibers and protection subnet have been created at the service layer.
