Technical Specification of Goniophotometer & Goniospectroradiometric System
for setting up of LED based Lighting products & Luminaries Test Laboratory for
NTH(ER), Salt Lake, Kolkata
Three (3) copies of Technical Bids are to be submitted
The luminous intensity distribution of a luminaire is determined by measuring its illuminance at
a given distance in all possible directions in space by Goniometer. Goniophotometer (mirror C
type) consists of luminaire holder, mirror and photometer. During measurement, the mirror reflects
the light emitted by the test object towards the photometer. The photometer head positioned at fixed
distances sufficiently away from the light source to be able to evaluate it as point source.
On the basis of this data - luminous flux, luminous efficacy, average luminance of the tested
luminaires can be calculated.
By equipping a Spectroradiometer with Goniometer, the spectral characteristics of the light
source at specific angles of emission can be evaluated. The color characteristics of the source, for
example the Color Rendering Indices (CRI), the co-related color temperature and the color
coordinates can be ascertained through mathematical calculations. Thus, a complete color distribution
& evaluation of the light source can be obtained, which is especially helpful for luminaire designers of
LED luminaires to produce lighting with uniform color appearance.
