JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Curriculum Coordinator of Post 16 Sport and Football Coaching

Hours of Work: Full Time

Department: Sports Department

Contract: Permanent

Location: Vauxhall Motors FC

Responsible to: Head of Sixth Form

Responsible for: Course delivery, recruitment and football coaching

Role Summary

To take responsibility for the development of post 16 pathways with Vauxhall Motors FC and Everton Sixth Form College. The role will require the deployment of innovative and engaging approaches to teaching, recruitment, coaching, including Saturday morning development group of children, and assisting the ongoing running of Soccer camps in partnership with Everton FC.

Key Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities – Learning and Teaching Standards

• To assist in the development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, assessment policies and teaching strategies in the curriculum area and subject area.

• To attend all appropriate meetings.

• To plan and prepare courses and lessons.

• To contribute to the whole school’s planning activities.

• To teach students according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work carried out by the students in school and elsewhere.

• To assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records as are required.

• To provide, or contribute to, oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students and groups of students.

• To undertake a designated programme of teaching.

• To ensure a high-quality learning experience for students which meets internal and external quality standards.

• To prepare and update subject materials.

• To use a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate learning appropriate to student needs and demands of the syllabus.

• To maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework.

• To undertake assessment of students as requested by external examination bodies, subject area and school procedures.

• To mark, grade and give written/verbal and diagnostic feedback as required

Teaching

• To plan, prepare and deliver lessons according to the relevant subject area

• To teach for no more than 21 hours a week as required

• To deliver outreach teaching to a range of partner organisations

• Ensure that the curriculum and lessons delivered match the needs of all students

• To promote a high standard of teaching and learning, monitoring academic standards and ensuring that student learning is effective and continuous. This will include assessment, recording and reporting

• To ensure the effective implementation of BTEC course design and delivery and the football development pathway, liaising with County and National FA as required

• To ensure the development of literacy, numeracy and ICT skills where relevant and appropriate

• To manage and coordinate all football related activity on a daily basis including organising fixtures, officials, transport and kits

• To act as course tutor

Administration, Reporting and Communication

• To manage allocated budgets and resources.

• To undertake all quality assessment, recording and reporting issues within the sports curriculum areas, including all internal verification processes and procedures.

• To report to students and parents through documentation and by attendance at consultation and open evenings.

• To liaise with parents and other outside bodies in relation to core and specialist areas of the curriculum.

• To be coordinate entries for all public examinations in conjunction with the exam board(s)

• Lead systems to ensure regular communication links with parents and carers e.g. Reporting days/Focus days.

Safeguarding Children

• Monitor potential safeguarding children risks and work with the School Child Protection Officer, and the Head of Safeguarding for Everton Football Club to promote safer working practice throughout the School.

• Understand the School Safeguarding policy, procedures and best practice guidelines. Use this understanding to ensure safer recruitment, safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to an Anti-bullying environment.

• To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people attending or associate with the school

Other Responsibilities

• To actively commission/recruit new students through working in partnership with Vauxhall Motors FC

• To coach and manage teams as required, including soccer camps as agreed with Everton FC.

• To keep up to date with current relevant curriculum developments, education policy and new technologies in order to enhance the quality of teaching and learning and student achievement

• To work such hours as may reasonably be required for the proper fulfilment of duties, including some evenings during open days and whole school events

• To undergo any training required in order to perform duties effectively

• To undertake any other duties or one off tasks at the reasonable request of the Assistant Principal, Deputy Principal, Principal or Chair of the Governors

• To exercise a commitment to the school’s mission statement and stated ethos, including equal opportunities policy and health and safety policies

• To attend departmental meetings and Inset as required.
