Green Belt Certification
PROGRAM INFORMATION
Information Services sponsors Green Belt Certification for Office of Management and Enterprise Services employees. LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt is a business management strategy aimed at improving the performance of an organization, by increasing process efficiency and eliminating waste.
An employee who has achieved Green Belt certification will benefit its organization in many ways. A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is involved in problem-solving groups and is able to detect and prevent defects and correct errors in processes, which results in increased efficiencies and productivity.
Green belts also assist other Six Sigma trained workers, such as black belts, during improvement projects and are able to lead small team efforts to improve efficiencies and reduce waste in their own area of expertise.
With so much effort and knowledge put into improving the business process, the end result is improved quality of service for both our internal and external customers.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Wynn Taylor has more than 15 years of experience in process improvement, quality control, strategic planning, business analysis, project management and resource allocation. He began learning the basics of process improvement and project management methodology while working for OKDHS. He then went on to become a Project Manager for the Office of Business Quality and was subsequently promoted the role of Process Engineer shortly thereafter. Wynn earned his Yellow Belt in 2013, his Green Belt in 2015 and finally his Black Belt in 2016. He has used his training to help state agencies save
over six million dollars in hard and soft savings.
Wynn has taught multiple classes during the course of his career such as Microsoft Excel (covering introduction, beginner, intermediate and advanced), Microsoft Project (introduction and beginner), basics of lean Six Sigma Methodology, introduction to Project Management and Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt.
Wynn’s present role is Project Manager within the Eligibility and Insurance Group. He has already been involved in multiple projects as well as process improvements using statistical analytics, process improvement methodologies and procedure standardization practices to help make OMES more efficient and productive. He is also the instructor for the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification initiative implemented by OMES-IS to continue the steps toward creating a culture of continuous improvement.
Wynn has a passion for Lean/Six Sigma that is certainly infectious:
“When I was first introduced to Lean/Six Sigma I became hooked very quickly. I’ve always been a fan of puzzles, thought experiments and riddles; and this methodology is
like solving those puzzles that people desperately need and want an answer too. You will hear multiple people involved in this line of work saying that it changes the way you take on life and your normal everyday tasks, and they are 100% right. It seems so simple and
yet is so involved and intricate that it has a huge influence and benefit on your life as a whole. I am very glad that I started down this path and always look forward to honing my
skills as well as teaching and helping others as much as I can with this methodology. “

Rachel Nalliah conducts analysis of systems and processes and whether those systems and processes are working well for the people using them. She assists Subject Matter Experts in designing systems and processes that work for the organization and the people using the system or process. Her favorite part of LSS is that a process can be mapped and timed; and inputs and outputs identified in a simple way. It provides a data based visual of what a person/organization goes through in an attempt to complete a task/job. Obstacles and shortcuts become obvious, and give leaders the knowledge to make significant, lasting changes.
Greg Brown is a Service Quality Specialist in Change Management and ITIL processes for the Office of Management and Enterprise Services. Greg has worked in the IT industry for over 20 years and before joining OMES, was the ITIL Change Manager for Bridgestone Americas Holdings Inc. where he was given the CEO award for the implementation of a Change Management process for Bridgestone North America. Greg’s career began when he left home for New York to perform on Broadway and then spent six months living on the streets. He traveled across country working for a now defunct oil company and came back to Oklahoma to begin his career as a game designer. Game design included focused studies in psychology, analytics, game theory, writing and process design. With rejections from major game companies such as
Wizards of the Coast, FASA, Redbrick and others, Greg found the opportunity to use his education for organizations in need of process designs of their own. Greg has certifications in business analysis, project management, ITIL, Six Sigma and has been struck by lightning four times in his life. Pray for him.
