parasite (n.): a living being that lives on or in another plant or animal and gets food from it OR a lazy person who does not work but depends on other people.

1) Even though Henry didn’t agree with his father, he followed his maxims out of respect.

ONCE A WRITER KNOWS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE THREE SENTENCE TYPES (SIMPLE, COMPOUND, AND COMPLEX), IT IS POSSIBLE TO WRITE WITH SENTENCE VARIETY. SENTENCE VARIETY HELPS MAKE YOUR WRITING MORE INTERESTING.

SIMPLE SENTENCE

A simple sentence contains a subject and verb.

COMPOUND SENTENCES

A compound sentence contains two independent clauses joined together by a FANBOYS.

COMPLEX SENTENCES A complex sentence is an

independent clause joined by one or more dependent clauses, using subordinating conjunctions (AAAWWUBISET).

Write a sample complex sentence.Because Ashley left her homework in her locker, she received Lasalle for not having it with her.

COMPOUND-COMPLEX SENTENCES A compound-complex sentence is

a sentence that has at least two independent clauses and at least one dependent clause.

Subordinating conjunctions (AAAWWUBISET) are used to introduce the dependent clauses.

Coordinating conjunctions (FANBOYS) are used for joining the independent clauses.
