Part 1: What is Preparation?
Preparation is the section for teachers and users to customise lesson plans by adding or
choosing specific resources. In this section, teachers can access book resources as well as
upload their own materials to the lesson plans.

2.1 Accessing Pearson resources
All ready-made resources developed by Pearson are arranged according to book chapters.
Step 1 – Under the Book Resources tab, select the chapter from the drop-down menu and
click ‘Go’.
Step 2 - Click on a resource name to open it .

2.2 Adding resources to ‘Teaching Plans and Overview’
‘Teaching Plans and Overview’ is the section for teachers to access and share teaching plans
and overview for curriculum planning purposes. The teaching plans, overview and other
resources designed for curriculum and lesson planning are arranged by Books. These
resources are for teachers’ sharing purposes only and WILL NOT be displayed in the
Teaching section. Apart from Pearson resources, teachers can also upload their own
school-based curriculum plans and related materials to this table.
Step 1 - Under the Book Resources tab , click ‘Add plan’ to prompt the upload panel.
Step 2 - In the pop-up window, click the ‘Add resources’ button .

Step 3 - Select the resource(s) from your local hard drive and click ‘Open’ .
Step 4 - The selected file(s) will be shown in the ‘Add plan’ window .
Step 5 - Click ‘Add’ to confirm.
Step 6 - Click the ‘Delete’ button to remove the item from the uploading list.
Step 7 – Click the ‘X’ button to cancel the entire uploading process.

2.3 Adding Pearson resources to ‘Teaching Resources’
‘Teaching Resources’ is the table that shows all ready-made resources developed by
Pearson available for a particular chapter. These resources can be used in lessons for
teaching purposes. The list here corresponds to the resource list in the ‘Teaching’ section.
Users can customise this list by adding resources and assign them to any classes.
Step 1 - Under the Book Resources tab, select a chapter from the drop-down list and click
to load the resource list.
Step 2 - Click ‘Add resource’ to prompt the upload panel.
Step 3 - In the pop-up window, users can search for particular resources developed by
Pearson using the search function.
Enter a keyword(s) in the ‘Search resources’ box and click the ‘Search’ button .

Step 4 - Users can open any of the searched resources by clicking the resource names. In
case such resources span across more than one page in the search, click the arrows on the
top right hand corner to navigate between pages .
Step 5 - Select the resource(s) to be added to the ‘Teaching Resources’ list. Click ‘Add’ to
confirm.
Step 6 - Select the class(es) to add the resources to and click ‘Add’ to complete the process
. The selected resources will be displayed at the bottom of ‘Teaching Resources’. You can
easily call up this modified ‘Teaching Resources’ list by selecting the class(es) you have
assigned just now in the Teaching section. (For more details on this, please refer to the user
guide on ‘Teaching’.)

2.4 Uploading school-based resources to ‘Teaching Resources’
Apart from ready-made resources developed by Pearson, teachers can also upload any
school-made resources prepared by users themselves (e.g. ppt, pdf and doc files) to the
‘Teaching Resources’ list.
Step 1 - Select a chapter from the drop-down list and click .
Step 2 - Click ‘Add resource’ to prompt the upload panel .
Step 3 - In the pop-up window, click the ‘Upload’ button .

Step 4 - Select the resource(s) from your local hard drive and click ‘Open’ .
Step 5 - The selected file(s) will be shown in the ‘Add resource’ panel . Click ‘Add’ to
confirm the process .
Step 6 - Click the ‘Delete’ button to remove the item from the uploading list. Click
the ‘X’ button to cancel the entire uploading process.

2.5 Assigning resources to classes
Users can assign any school-based resources uploaded by themselves to an additional
class(es) by editing the class list in the ‘Add to class’ column.
Step 1 – Under the Book Resources tab, go to a specific chapter and locate the self-created
materials to be assigned to a class(es).
Step 2- Click ‘Edit’ .
Step 3 – In the pop-up window, select the class(es) and click ‘OK’ to confirm.
Step 4- The class list next to the resource(s) will be updated. The resources will also be
displayed under the assigned class(es) in the ‘Teaching’ section under the Book Resources
tab. (For more details on this, please refer to the user guide on ‘Teaching’.)

2.6 Removing resources from Book Resources
Users can remove any uploaded school-based resources from either ‘Teaching Plans and
Overview’ or ‘Teaching Resource’.
Step 1 - Click the ‘Delete’ button next to the resources.
Step 2 – In the pop-up window, click ‘OK’ to confirm .
Step 3 - Click ‘Cancel’ button to return to the list without removing the resources.
NOTE: Ready-made resources developed by Pearson cannot be deleted from the default
locations they are listed on.

2.7 Exporting lesson plans to HTML files
Users can export the lesson plans and save them as HTML files for their own reference. Step 1 – Under the Book Resources tab, go to a specific chapter and click ‘Save resource list’ at the bottom of the page.
Step 2 – In the pop-up window, click ‘Open’ to view the lesson plan in a new browser
window. Alternatively, click ‘Save’ to export the lesson plan as an HTML file and save it in the local drive.

Part 3: Interactive Lessons
In the ‘Interactive Lessons’ section, teachers will find a wide range of interactive resources
that can be used in classes to motivate students’ participation. These ready-made resources
developed by Pearson include Mind Map, Interactive Game, Pop Quiz, Flash Card and more.
3.1 Accessing Pearson resources
All ready-made resources developed by Pearson are arranged according to Level and Folder.
Step 1 – Under the Interactive Lessons tab, select the Level and Folder from the drop-down
menu .
Step 2 - Click on a resource name to open it .

3.2 Creating new Interactive Lesson folders
Teachers can create their own Interactive Lesson folders to store a specific selection of
resources.
Step 1- Click the ‘Add new lesson folder’ button .
Step 2 - Users will then be directed to a new folder. Otherwise, users can also locate the
newly created folder under the drop-down menu. In the new lesson folder, click on ‘New
Lesson Folder’ to rename it .
Step 3 - Click on the space under the Description column to add a description for the
folder.

3.3 Adding resources to Interactive Lesson folders
3.3.1 Adding Pearson resources
Step 1 – Under the Interactive Lesson tab, locate the specific Interactive Lesson folder to be modified .
Step 2 – To add Pearson resources to this Interactive Lesson folder, follow Steps 2 to 6 of the section on 2.3 Adding Pearson resources to ‘Teaching Resources’.
3.3.2 Adding school-based / self-made interactive resources
Step 1 – Under the Interactive Lesson tab, locate the specific Interactive Lesson folder to be modified as in 3.3.1.
Step 2 – To upload school-based materials (e.g. ppt, doc, pdf files), read the section on 2.4 Uploading school-based resources to ‘Teaching Resources’ and follow Steps 2 to 6.
Alternatively, teachers can also create new interactive resources using the specially designed builders in the Resource Centre section. (For details on how to create such self-made interactive resources, please refer to the user guide on ‘Resource Centre’.)

3.4 Assigning resources to classes
Step 1 - Locate the specific resources in the related Interactive Lesson folder .
Step 2 - Follow Steps 2 and 3 of section 2.5 Assigning resources to classes.

3.5 Removing resources / folders
Step 1 – Go to the folder to be deleted, or the folder that holds the resources to be deleted.
Step 2 – To delete a particular resource, click the ‘Delete’ button next to the resource and
then click ‘OK’ to confirm.
Step 3 – To delete an entire folder (together with all the resources inside), click the ‘Delete’
button on the top right hand corner of the folder. Click ‘OK’ to confirm.

Students have access to e-Books on their iLearn platform with all answers hidden by default.
In the ‘Show / Hide Answers’ section, teachers can decide if they want to make these
answers accessible to students.
4.1 Releasing e-Book answers
Step 1 – Under the Show / Hide Ans tab, select the e-Book that you want . Click the
chapters that you want to release answers for and click ‘Save’ .
