Pastor’s Corner
...The 2016 U.S. elecons are of crucial importance not only for
America, but for the human race. Because the U.S. is the world’s
strongest military and economic power, the November elecons
are of great importance to the inhabitants of planet Earth. That is
exactly why it is crucial for Chrisans to enter the vong booth with
a wellformed conscience based on Gospel values.

The compassionate integrity or lack thereof of the next
president and members of Congress, will significantly determine
how well, or how poorly, the human race does in the next several
years.

“Forming Consciences for Faithful Cizenship,” produced by the
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, is a very good
elecon guide to help Catholics, all other Chrisans, and people of
good will to make the best moral choices. The bishops are urging us
to read the enre document.

In this document the bishops teach that as each person strives to
form her/his conscience, it is essenal “to embrace goodness and
truth. For Catholics, this begins with a willingness and openness to
seek the truth and what is right by studying Sacred Scripture and
the teaching of the Church as contained in the Catechism of the
Catholic Church.”

The bishops clarify that while we may choose different ways to
respond to compelling social problems, “We cannot differ on our
moral obligaon to help build a more just and peaceful world
through morally acceptable means, so that the weak and
vulnerable are protected and human rights and dignity are
defended.”

May voters everywhere commit to vong for candidates who are
most likely to work for the common good of the enre human race
especially for the poor, vulnerable, wartorn, and planet Earth
our common home.

As faithful disciples of Jesus, let us never forget that when it comes
to polical elecons, as well as in all ma6ers, the Gospel trumps
everything!

Chrisan conscience” by Tony Magliano, Naonal Catholic Reporter

Stewardship: Parishioner’s Answering God’s Call in Hospitality
Last year a parishioner helped fellow parents by picking up a group of children from POP School AAercare and taking them to
Wednesday evening dinners in Deasy Hall. There they met their parents who couldn’t get to aAercare in me.
A simple act of stewardship.

New Adult Education Series:
The Pivotal Players
In Bishop Robert Barron’s awardwinning Catholicism series, an
epic tenpart documentary, he took viewers around the world
and deep into the Catholic faith. Now, in a sequel presentaon,
he unlocks the truth behind the Catholic Church’s most
influenal people who not only shaped the life of the Church,
but also changed the course of civilizaon. From St. Francis of
Assisi to St. Catherine of Siena, from St. Thomas Aquinas to
Michelangelo, all the way to Blessed John Henry Newman and
G.K. Chesterton, Christ’s Incarnaon is on display through the
minds and lives of his Church’s members. It is filmed on locaon
in several countries, using nature, architecture, art and music to
convey the sensive and insighGul stories about these Pivotal
Players. This class begins Sunday, November 6, at 9:45 am
in the St. Monica Room.
Religious Education
An Authenc Life

“The authenc life orients us toward the goal of Chrisan life. We are called to live holy lives, every man and every woman
without excepon, regardless of our age, color, socioeconomic background, or state in life. Living holy lives is the goal of the
Chrisan life and our essenal purpose.

We are called to live holy lives and this is something we should strive for as Chrisans, but let me be very clear that this
holiness is not something that we can a6ain for ourselves. In truth, holiness is something God does in us and not something we
achieve. And yet, at the same me, God is the perfect gentleman: He invites us to parcipate in his life, but never forces himself
upon us. He wants our consent, he wants to be invited into our hearts and lives, but much more than consent and invitaon he
desires our living cooperaon. God yearns for us to be coworkers with him in this work of holiness. It is this dynamic
collaboraon between God and man that brings delight to God (73).” Rediscover Catholicism, Ma6hew Kelly

As we reflect on All Saints Day, how are we living holy lives according to God’s plan and purpose for us? What do we need to do
to improve our daily lives to fully contribute to the Kingdom of God here on Earth?

Casting Lots for the Seamless Garment (John 19:23-24)
‘You Raise Me Up’
He raises up the lowly from the dust; from the dunghill he lis up the poor. Psalm 113:7
Set aside a moment when you can access the Internet and enter these search terms: “garbage dump, children, playground.”
The alarming images you will find make very real the words of today’s Scripture. All over the world, in numerous naons on
every connent, people live on dumpsites, forage materials to shelter their families and even construct schools for their
children. And the children, being children, create from the garbage their own toys and playgrounds. How does this happen?,
we ask ourselves. And who is responsible? We search our souls and we search Scripture. What can we do today to help God
raise the lowly and li! up the poor?
(Claire J. King, Living Faith devoons, Monday, October 10)

PraySing!
PraySing! Is a parent/child music, rhythm, prayer and song session created to guide parents to interact with their children
through songs while helping your child develop a lifelong love of music. We play, we sing, we dance, we learn how music affects
our whole being posively. We pracce learning skill development like: clapping, hopping, jumping, sharing and praying. You and
your child will have great fun playing drums, bells, singing and dancing with each other.

There are three sessions to choose from. All classes meet in St. Elizabeth (off the Gathering Space). The first class begins
November 1 and will end December 14. Classes are: Tuesdays 9:30 am, Wednesday 9:30 am, and Wednesdays 5:00 pm.

Sessions are in 6 week intervals and are 30 minutes long each week. (We will not meet Thanksgiving week.) Children newborn
through age 5 are welcome. A parent (s) must accompany their children. Space is limited to 15 children per session and
preregistraons is required. For more informaon or to sign up please contact: Megan Evere2, [email protected].
Recognize God in Your
Ordinary Moments
Years ago, we began having students at our parish school
dress up like saints of their choosing in ancipaon of All
Saints’ Day. It was a more worthwhile learning experience
than dressing up as superheroes and cartoon characters for
Halloween. You would have those who would bring aluminum
swords as St. Michael, bo6les of water so they could try to
bapze everyone like John the Bapst, and rubber snakes to
drive out of Ireland like St. Patrick. The most creave might
come to school covered in ash for St. Joan of Arc, or with fake
eyeballs on a plate for St. Lucy.

For a day, they put on the dress and persona of a saint that
had gone before us in faith. It was a learning experience, but
also an exercise in spirituality. What a6ributes of the saint
could they try to incorporate into their life? What kind of
example were they to us all in our Chrisan walk?

As Chrisans, the fact is that every day we "put on Christ"
and should be walking around as imitators of our Lord. To be
Chrisan is not to just be like Christ. We are called to BE Christ
to a world that needs to hear the good news.

A stewardship way of life serves as an example to others of
the transformave power of being a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Our prayer is that we live in such a way that those around no
longer see us, but instead, Jesus. This is not costume contest
or an opportunity for a school party. This is real life. Let us put
on Christ each and every day and boldly play the role of a
lifeme. Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS
