“Name That Book” is a contest coordinated by the AISD Library Services Department

Objective is to introduce children to contemporary award winning books, as well as classic literature, that represent a variety of genres

School-wide competition held in the Spring (May 2010)

For the 2009 -2010 school year Any AISD elementary school Registration due January 22, 2010 to

Committee Chairperson Any student in Kindergarten through 2nd

grade

Grade level specific teams of 3 – 5 members (with 1 official alternate) will compete to determine a grade level winner

Grade level winners will advance to the school-wide contest

Each team must have a sponsor (faculty member or volunteer from the community)

Each participant will be awarded a certificate – file available on Librarian wiki

Suggested that each participant on the winning team will be awarded a medal

Suggested that each school invest in a multi-year trophy or plaque on display in office or other display area that allows for engraving winners names

Selection of books includes majority of the 2009 – 2010 Texas 2X2 books and additional books from Top 100 Children’s Books list

List will be available on Librarian Wiki on ePortal
