• Foundation for new venture creation in addition to their traditional role as research and teaching institutions
• New names for this kind of entrepreneurship– academic entrepreneurship (Powers et al., 2004)– faculty entrepreneurship (Chrisman et al., 1995).
• Spin off their research as new firms• Foundation of the entrepreneurial university -

Problems• Most universities lack resources and
competencies for entrepreneurship teaching– Organizational inertia (teaching job-taking)– Students do not see themselves as ent.
• Main competence of the university is still teaching and accumulating knowledge
• No comprehensive set of entrepreneurship courses (specialized courses)
