! Cardinal Celebration!

Our Playground Appreciation Ceremony was held on Thursday, September 15. We would like to thank the Patrick County School Board, Dr. William Stroufe, the PCPS Maintenance Department, the Meadows of Dan Booster Club, the Meadows of Dan Ruritan Club, Pat Stanley, and Keith Howell for all of their hard work and support in making this new playground for our school possible. In 2nd/3rd science, we have been studying life cycles. Students have been able to watch the stages of the monarch butterfly in the classroom – from a tiny caterpillar munching on milkweed leaves to a green chrysalis that becomes transparent and finally a butterfly. On Friday, September 16th, students in 2nd and 3rd grades saw a butterfly come out of its chrysalis. They watched in awe as a chrysalis split open, and the new butterfly emerged. We were able to release four butterflies on Friday and four more on Monday.

September Celebration of Color All of the Cardinals took part in helping the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes learn and review their basic colors by wearing a piece of clothing with lots of that day’s color. Yellow was worn on Fri-days to show support for young ones fighting pediatric brain tumors in memory of Mrs. Pratt’s grandson, Joshua, who passed away from this condition a few years ago.
