evidently, studies show that a lot of communication is lost in
cyberspace. And there is growing evidence that conventional
media is making a comeback in comparison with digital media
which has been the focus of attention in recent years.
1. efficiently holds the reader’s attention
A recent survey by MarketingProf in the us showed that the
number one priority area for communication and marketing
in 2014 was to maintain the reader’s attention. And here,
conventional media is exceptional in the way that it more
often gets you immersed in the subject. in addition, you don’t
have the same high communicative noise levels as on digital
media.
2. Changes behaviours – and gets the message through
According to a survey conducted by the Direct Mail Association
Factbook in Germany and the US, 60% of consumers make
purchases as a result of a physical direct mail – which is signifi-
cantly higher than what can be expected of an email campaign.
In addition, 32% of respondents in the survey are able to recall
the actual content of the physical direct mail, whereas only 5%
of email recipients were able to do this.
3. Conventional media is more emotional
it evokes a much higher level of emotion when you are holding
a gorgeous magazine in front of you rather than flipping through
pages on an iPad. And this is exactly the feeling that a lot of
people are beginning to strive for in a time when there is an
increasing need to “unplug” when we are at home. combined
with much better opportunities to stand out with stunning and
extraordinary formats, this enables analogue media to have a
great impact.

emphasise the synergy between different platforms
The key is to create impact through synergy between online
and offline media. here, the bottom line is choosing and put-
ting together the right media combination with regard to the
content, target group, context and purpose of communication.
Why is it that conventional media is getting exciting again?
2016The magazine version of Byggeri+Arkitektur is published in Denmark,
Norway and Sweden in a circulation of 10,200 copies, 8 times per
year. The magazine is distributed to builders and architects, as well as
decision-makers with a professional interest in architecture and interior
design, in both private and public sectors. unless otherwise stated,
images and illustrations are kindly supplied by builders and architects.
The editors welcome requests relating to building projects where
special consideration has been given to aesthetics, function and choice
of materials, as well as news and stories concerning the Danish and
international design industry.
