Our new Motorway Service Area will create jobs for the local community, and increase business for local suppliers. The design is environmentally responsible and minimises impact on the landscape. Applegreen plc is proposing to develop a new Motorway Service Area (MSA) at land adjacent to junction 4 of the M42. Our proposals will set new design standards and we aim to raise the bar for future MSAs across the UK. Our design features a flowing, grass covered roof and canopies that help to blend buildings into the surrounding countryside. We wiil minimise our impact on the surrounding area with smart thinking and the best in sustainable design. All of our buildings, including a two storey amenity building, will be highly energy eff icient, The new service area will create a place where motorists on the M42 can stop, refuel and refresh in a welcoming and comfortable environment. ln addition to deLivering excellent design, we are committed to creating benefit directly for neighbouring communities, both in the provision of management, retail and maintenance jobs, and also in creating opportunity for local produce suppliers. We will create approxlmately 300 new iobs which wrll qive surrounding communities a significant economic boost. Our selection of this strategic location means we will not need to build significant new road tnfrastructure for entry and exit onto the l'/42. The site location aiso ensures safe access to our site for local people to travel to work using existing roads and pathways. We are aware of alternative proposals for an MSA close to Junction 5 of the M42. We believe our project has significant advantages, both for the local economy, and due to our compact planning application boundary area, (some 700% smaller than the alternate proposals), a much reduced environmental impact.
