• “As a child”, is an elliptical adverbial clause of time. The whole sentence is “As a child” and we can make the conclusion that :

• In adverbial clause of time, concession, condition and so on, when the main clause has the same subject as the clause, and the predicate of clause is the form “be”, we often can leave out the subject and “be” of clause. In addition, when the clause is “it be “, we can also omit the “it be”.

• 2.“…small farm where…” is an attributive clause. “farm” is antecedent, “where” is relative adverb, because “live” is an intransitive verb, it can’t follow object but adverbial.
