1. Overview The Wrap Around Frame is a suspension device for man riding temporary suspended access

equipment (TSAE). The wrap around frame allows a suspended access cradle to be suspended at a

range of positions along the cradle length and also facilitates a space for an operator to pass through

and into a cantilever section of the cradle

2. User Information The Zarafa Wrap Around Frame can be used in conjunction with Skyclimber Sky Stage Ultra

(SSU) and Altrex MHB cradle equipment – please refer to cradle manufacturers guidelines.

It can be used with the following lifting equipment:

Skyclimber Compact400 – WLL = 400kg

(Safety Device: Skylock III 8mm/SkyGrip 8mm)

Skyclimber CX500 – WLL = 500kg

(Safety Device: Skylock III 8mm/SkyGrip 8mm)

Skyclimber Alpha 500 – WLL = 500kg

(Safety Device: Skylock III 9mm/SkyGrip 9mm)

Skyclimber Alpha 800 – WLL 800kg

(Safety Device: Skylock II 9mm/SkyGrip 9mm)

The Zarafa Wrap Around Frame must be used in accordance with the relevant user manual

for any equipment it is attached to. I.e. SkyGrip user manual

Maximum Working Angle: (Longitudinal) = 10°; (Lateral) = 8° from horizontal

Only trained/competent personnel are permitted to install/operate this equipment

Any incidents and/or near misses resulting from a failure of the suspended access system

(I.e. cradle fall arrest/overspeed activated) must be reported to the relevant persons and

this information must be passed to ZHS for investigation or assessment

3. Assembly/Pre use checks

3.1 Setting up

Safety First!

Only use this equipment in accordance with this user manual

Only trained and competent personnel are permitted to use this equipment

Do not tamper with any of the equipment – maintenance should be carried out by

authorised personnel only

Use the correct PPE at all times when operating this equipment

All tools and equipment during assembly must be tethered when working at height

REPORT DEFECTS IMMEDIATELY

3.2 Pre use/daily checks

Check general condition of equipment – report any defects – Check for:

a. Wear and tear of the Zarafa Wrap Around Frame including all fixtures and fittings

b. Check weld connections and structural condition

3.3 PPE

PPE and general safety rules outlined in a risk assessment applicable to the site/cradle

location must be adhered to however, as a minimum use the following PPE when installing

and using this equipment:

a. Protective footwear

b. Hi-grip or rigger gloves (latex/nitrile surgical gloves are not recommended)

c. Hard hat

4. User instructions

4.1 Installation

Step 1 – Pre use/daily checks

Ensure pre use/daily checks are complete and any

defects are reported

Only use the equipment if it is fit for purpose – if in

doubt ask

Refer to the relevant cradle manufacturer user

manual for cradle operation and load tables – for

more information contact Zarafa Height Solutions

Limited

This installation is a two person operation – however

can be safely achieved by one person if necessary

Step 2 – Prepare cradle for installation:

1. Ensure the cradle is on flat/level ground

2. Make sure the cradle is stable and wont

overturn when the wrap around frame is

fitted to the cantilever section

3. Fit the cradle side frames for the cantilever

section

Step 3 – Prepare wrap around frame for installation

1. Remove the top bracket – carefully retain

the bolts for future use, taking the

appropriate security measures if working at

height to ensure they cannot fall

2. Fully back off the side frame clamp bolts

Step 4 – Fit the wrap around frame to cantilever

1. Position the wrap around frame onto the

side frames

2. This is recommend as a two person lift,

however, can be achieved by one person if

necessary

3. Ensure the cradle guides shoes are square

and correctly aligned with the bottom of

the side frames

4. Tighten the side frame clamps evenly until

wrap around frame is square and secure –

do not over tighten clamp bolts!

Step 5 – Fit the hoist

1. Lift the hoist into position

2. This is best achieved by lifting the hoist on

the suspension rope – however the hoist can

be lifted into position without the assistance

of the suspension rope by two people

3. Secure hoist stirrup bolts

4. Remove the suspension rope from the hoist

Step 6 – Refit top bracket

1. Partially undo one side of the mid brace by

backing off the mounting bolts – do not

remove the mounting bolts completely

2. Fit the top bracket making sure the safety

device mounting lug is facing outwards (as

shown)

3. Tighten up all fixings

4. Double check that all other fixings and

clamps are tight and secure

Step 7 – Fit the Safety device

SkyGrip:

1. Place the SkyGrip directly onto the top

bracket – please refer to SkyGrip User

Manual: SkyGrip E ED 09.11.2006

2. Secure all fixings

Skylock:

1. Fit Skylock brackets – ensure they are

correctly orientated

2. Fit the Skylock – please refer to Skylock user

manual: 56UME002.doc 2010

Step 8 – Reeve the primary and secondary SWRs

1. Reeve the primary rope through the SkyGrip

(if fitted) and the hoist

2. If Skylock is fitted, reeve primary rope

through the top bracket and into the hoist

3. Direct the rope through the right hand guide

pulley

4. Reeve the secondary rope through the

safety device, guide spring and through the

left hand guide pulley

5. Place weight onto ends of suspension ropes

to ensure they are taught and running over

the pulley wheels properly

5. Maintenance

5.1 Daily checks

Frequency = each day before first use

Guidance = See checklist below

1. General condition of Zarafa Wrap Around Frame

2. Check all welds for condition – All cracks/defects reportable

3. Check security of all fixings

4. Check rope passage and pulley wheels for excessive wear from SWR

5. Ensure all guards are fitted and secure

6. Trouble shooting A list of common issues along with some common solutions is provided in the table below.

All issues are to be reported. For any other issues please seek assistance.

This trouble shooting guide is intended for use with the Zarafa Wrap Around Frame. For

equipment trouble shooting, please consult the relevant manufacturers/ZHS service

manual for that item.
