Executive Summary
The Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation (CSCUF), a 501(c)(3) public foundation serving Texas, Oklahoma,
and Arkansas, is dedicated to three core initiatives: financial capability, credit union development, and
disaster relief for credit union staff and volunteers when disaster strikes. With fifty four years of people
helping people, the CSCUF prides itself on making a difference in the lives of credit union members
throughout its region.
Mission: Empowering people to improve their
financial well being
Vision: To be the premier resource for building a
better financial future
The CSCUF believes that financial capability is critical to societal
stability and feel that we should do our part to develop more capable and competent citizens. The reality
is we are not born with decision‐making skills. We have to learn them, which means we need individuals
willing and knowledgeable to teach these invaluable lessons. To adequately prepare our youth for
adulthood, we must empower them with the tools, information, and skills necessary to save and invest in
their future.
The CSCUF is a proud supporter of the Biz Kid$ program, seasons 1 – 6, as well as the National Credit
Union Foundation. By working together with those chasing the same vision, we can truly make a
difference.
Based on results from the Teachers’ Background & Capacity to Teach Personal Finance study, funded by
the National Endowment for Financial Education, 89% of K‐12 teachers agree that students should either
take a financial education course or pass a competency test for high school graduation. However,
relatively few teachers believe they are adequately prepared to teach personal finance topics. As a result
of this lack of preparation and/or comfort level, students are not being taught these basic fundamentals.
This program will provide the opportunity for teachers to receive that personal financial education, tips
and techniques on how to teach the Biz Kid$ program, and the pleasure of seeing their students’ business
ideas come to life!

What is a Business Plan? A business plan is a written document that describes an idea for a product or service and how it will make money. It includes your marketing plan as well as estimates for revenue, expenses, and how to ultimately make a profit. Why do I need a Business Plan? A business plan is like a roadmap. It allows you to plan out various aspects of your business on paper, thus keeping you from making unnecessary mistakes in the future. It also helps an entrepreneur think about the costs associated with starting a business and shows credit unions/funders you are serious about your idea.

How much will you sell it for? 5. What is your cost per unit? 6. What is the profit margin? 7. How much of your product/service will you have to sell to break even?
Next Steps: 1. What will you do with the money you make – buy more supplies, save for college,
donate to charity, reinvest in business? 2. Do you have a succession plan?
