SEWA PROJECT REPORT CLASS XII A

Reduce, Recycle, Reuse(3R’s) and now Respect

The simple thumb rule for ‘Waste Management’is extract the maximum practical benefitsfrom products and generate minimum amount of waste. The hit solution to ensuremaximum waste recovery is by exploring the 3R’s Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and nowRespect.

Students used waste materials like plastic, used bottles, clothes, paper, broken glasswareetc. to create bags, mask, decoration pieces and other useful commodities. A part of theproject included surveys and spreading awareness in the locality. Even though the presentsituation limited the students from proceeding with the same, students were able tocommunicate their ideas and messages among themselves in online mode.

Helping school authorities in organizing Career Guidance Programme

SEWA aims to develop a whole person in their intellectual, personal, social, emotionaland social growth. Learners engaged in this program are expected to be lifelong learnersand through experiential learning develop as active citizens and caring andcompassionate humans.

The whole class was divided into different groups and each group was given a topic oftheir interest. Children in each group had arranged google meet, they discussed differentcareer opportunities and prepared PowerPoint presentations. We decided to present thePPT for Classes 9A, 9B, 9C, 10A, 10B and 10D. A google meet was arranged for eachgroup for presenting their ppt. Children presented the topic and a doubt clearing sessionalso was arranged at the end of the session.

Anti bullying or anti raggingcommitteeand awarenessraising

The class was divided into four groups and each group has done the awarenessprogrammein an excellent manner.They prepared the videos and presented it in the class. The videos included an incidentenacting, live dilemma(interactive session), audio narration, legal data collection, typesof bullying, effects of this on people, awareness and concerns while using any socialmedia/other digital platforms etc.. All the awareness videos were followed by aninteractive session.

LIFE SKILLS ACTIVITIES (Creative and Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making, Effective Communication, Self Awareness and Empathy)

To understand more about life skills, students in the class were divided into fourgroups and were given four most important topics of life skills such as critical andcreative thinking, problem solving and decision making, effective communication, self-awareness and empathy. Each group was asked to perform activities based on theirgiven topic which was monitored by the class teacher.A quiz conducted in the class that dealt with real life situations and how one canapply this in their day to day life. This was aimed to increase their understanding onthis topic.

The dignity of labour is the philosophy that all types of jobs are respected equally, andno occupation is considered superior and none of the jobs should be discriminated onany basis.The whole class was divided into three groups consisting of eleven students in each group. Each group performed in various ways.The first team prepared various programmes based on the topic. They included MC,

speech, PowerPoint presentation, Quotes, Documentary and pictures on the topic. It was done with proper preparation and everything turned out well.The next groups also prepared presentations, mime, speech, quotes etc. All together it was very well organised and very informative.All the above activities were done through online platform. Each member actively participated and contributed to the project and made the activities successful.

BE SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE

It was often noted that though many of us consider ourselves to be smart and updatedwith 20th century skills, at times of adversities most of us fail. Keeping this in mind;the class XI D of 2020-2021 chose the topic’BE SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE’ fortheir SEWA activity. The class was divided into 3 groups : FIRST AID, HEALTHCLUB, DISASTER PREVENTION AND MITIGATION.The first group presented a PPT on how to administer first aid, a video on what actions to be taken to help someone who has choking.The second group mainly focussed on changing our present lifestyle and includingexercise and yoga in our daily routine.

The third group focussed on the recent floods that hit Kerala , what measures could havebeen taken to avoid such disasters

INDIGENOUS WAYS OF WATER CONSERVATION

“Water is agift from the creator, protect it, respect it"We all know conserving water is important, as our precious fresh water is in limited

supply. One day, we might run out of water if we don't use it wisely.As a part of the SEWA project the students of Std. XB conducted a study on IndigenousWays Of Water Conservation. The class was divided into seven groups. Each groupconducted online meeting and decided their activities. Due to the pandemic situation theycould not move out to collect details of water conservation in their locality. So theyprepared a questionnaire in Google form and collected the responses by sending this formto people in their locality. This form consisted of questions to know about water scarcityin their locality and the methods adopted to conserve water in houses. They analysed theresponses they received. Based on these data, each group suggested few improvements tobe made in present systems with the help of PowerPoint presentations. They also spreadawareness about the methods of rainwater conservation among families.

SWACHH BHARAT

Online meetings were conducted by each group as a part of planning and preparation.Discussed the ways in which they could spread the message of swachh bharat.Students cleaned their houses and the premises as the first step for the Swachh

Bharat mission. Made posters depicting the importance of cleanliness and shared them in theWhatsApp groups. A Questionnaire was prepared in a google form and collected responses toknow the method of waste disposal from the people who lived in the nearby locality.Based on the feedback received , students conducted a statistical analysis and framedinnovative suggestions and shared it with the local community.Students were happy to note the positive impact they could make as a result of theirawareness drive. Following aresome of the impacts.

a)Peoplestarted disposing of waste in a scientific manner.b)People in the locality stopped burning plasticand installed Biogas plant.

c)People started making manure using food waste.

Sources Of Water Pollution

As part of the SEWA project, the students of Std: IX-A conducted a study on sources of

water pollution in their area. The class was divided into seven groups. Each group

conducted online meetings and decided their activities. They visited the water bodies in the

nearby places and observe and find out different types of pollutants present there. They

also listed out the different sources of such pollutants. And they did a study on the water

pollution and sources of such pollution. From their observations they find some ways to

how to reduce water pollution.

It was a great learning experience for them. They realized the danger of water pollution

and they understand the importance of water conservation.

First Aid

Students of Std IX B opted First Aid as their SEWA Activity. The aim of first aid is to help

children to understand the importance of being safe and responsible. It also enables the

students to practice first aid skills in order to empower them to help people in emergencies

and also learn to prepare a first aid kit.

Students were divided into 8 groups and asked to choose different topics. They had their

discussions through Google Meet. Students prepared videos on first aid to be given during

various situations. They explained the different aspects to be taken care of with the help of

the videos prepared. After the presentation they also conducted a quiz on first aid. By

doing this activity children realized the great message that “Even the basic First Aid done

at the right time can save someone’s life”.

FOOD AND NUTRITION AMONG CHILDREN

As part of the SEWA project the students of Std IX C conducted a survey to assess the

nutritional status of the children of their age group. The class was divided into seven

groups. Each group conducted online meetings and decided their activities. To collect the

details regarding their food habits and exercise they prepared a questionnaire in Google

form and collected the responses. They studied the diet requirements of the boys and girls

of their age group and analysed the responses they received. Based on their studies, each

group prepared a proper diet chart and shared it in the group.

SEWA PROJECT REPORT CLASS IX D

Participating or volunteering in Youth Parliament or mock UN Sessions

Students of class IX D took up Mock Parliament as their SEWA activity for the academic year 2020-2021.

The aim of the Mock Parliament was to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of

discipline and enable students to understand the working of the parliament. It also created an insight into

public issues and formed opinions on them.

The issue which was discussed by the students was the Farmers Bill—how far is it beneficial for the

farmers. The students were divided into groups representing different parties like the Indian National

Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party of India (Marksist) and independent MPs. The

opposition put forward the issues in the question hour which was aptly answered by the Food and

Agriculture Minister. The Home Minister also replied to the concerns raised by the other members of the

house. At the end the Prime Minister addressed the house to make the members aware what the intention of

the government was and also its need in making the lives of the farmers better. The session ended with the

passing of the bill amidst a lot of shouting in the house.
