Using Pearson Successnet

The digital component to enhance student achievement

in Reading Street.

Pearson Successnet

•  There are two different Pearson accounts that you must establish for the Reading Street reading series.

•  FIRST, create an account for students to access the textbook on their iPads.

•  Go to www.PearsonSchool.com/mobileandetext.

•  Click “Start Here” then “Register”. See your ITRT for the code.

•  Enter zip code of school (NOTE: If school is not listed, click on “Advanced School Search”).

•  Click on “School” and “Next” and complete personal information and password fields.

•  Choose your textbook and click “Subscribe.”

•  Click “Create Class” and enter students’ first and last names. Create a username for them by using their first and last name or first letter of first name and last name with all lower case and no spaces. You may have to add a number to the username because the system will not accept duplicate usernames.

•  You can give each student the same easy to remember password for the textbook only.

Pearson Mobile & eText

•  As soon as you have set up your class on the mobile and etext website, students can access their textbook on the iPad by doing the following:

•  Click on Pearson eText app •  Enter username and password

•  Click on textbook

Students Access Textbook

•  Now it’s time to register for a Pearson SuccessNet account. Through this account, you will have access to the entire online Reading Street series.

•  Everything that comes with this reading series is in digital format for viewing on the SMART board and assigning to students for them to access in their own Pearson account.

•  Go to https://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com.

•  Important!! Try to login using the same username and password you created for the Pearson mobile website. These accounts are linked and it should work.

•  If not, choose “Register” and put in the code for your grade level. See your ITRT for grade level codes.

•  Enter your school zip code and choose your school.

•  Fill in your profile information.

Pearson SuccessNet

This is the first page you will see. Click the arrow button.

Use arrow buttons to see all of your products. Notice your classes and assignments are on the bottom.

•  Your initial code added products for your grade level.

•  If you teach additional grade levels or need to make changes to your products, you must go to "manage products."

•  Click on the drop down arrow beside your name.

•  You will see your profile information and your product information.

•  Choose "manage products" and "add new products.”

•  Enter additional access codes and hit save.

•  You will not see these additional products until you log out and log back in.

•  If you do not want your products to appear on your home page, you can choose "hide" under "manage products."

Add More Products

•  To create a class, choose the "Class" tab and click on "manage classes”

•  Click “Create a class/group” and fill out the information. Be sure to select both grade level products and all of the leveled readers at the bottom then click “save.”

•  Repeat for any other classes you wish to create

•  Classes will show up on the home page and when you click “Manage Classes" under the "Classes" tab.

Name your class and select all the leveled readers and both products for the grade levels.

Students will NOT need this registration info because they will login with the usernames and passwords that you create.

Registration Information

•  Select "Classes" tab then "Manage Classes."

•  Click "view” under “Roster” to add students.

•  Students may be added individually or you can upload your entire class from an Excel file.

•  Click on the links to get instructions for uploading and get the Excel file needed for uploading your roster.

•  Students MUST have unique passwords for this Pearson account and you must follow certain rules for creating usernames and passwords.

Adding Students

•  Hover over "Content" tab and select "Table of Contents"

•  Choose your grade (if applicable) and unit

Assigning Content

•  Choose the content you wish to assign by highlighting the content

•  Choose "Assign"

•  You can choose start and end dates before clicking "save"

•  By default - all students are chosen; but you can uncheck those you wish not to have the assignment

•  Hover over the "Planning" tab and select "Assignments"

•  Choose "class/group" in drop down menu

•  Click "Assign Activities"

•  Follow the 5 steps

Notice the diversity of the activities....these would probably be assigned to individual or groups of students needing practice on specific skills.

Step 5 allows you to choose your class or specific students.

•  Hover over the "Content" tab and choose "Tests.”

•  Check your text (if needed) and the type of test.

•  Click on the test and choose "assign" from the drop down menu.

•  Choose the students who will be assigned the test.

•  Choose a date and save.

•  On the "Home Page", assignments will appear under "My Classes and Groups"

•  You can click the links to edit start and end dates, view status of an assignment or view student work for individual students

•  You can also check or uncheck "include remediation"

•  You can also view and edit assignments under the "Planning Tab" by choosing assignments

Managing Assignments

What the Student Sees Students will NOT be able to open the textbook here on the iPad because it requires Adobe Flash. They must use the textbook app to view it on the iPad. However, students can take test and do other assignments on the iPad from their Pearson account. Students can do all activities on their account from a laptop.
