Rest in Peace We remember those who have died in
our parish community this week:
Eternal Rest grant unto them O
Lord; and let the perpetual light shine
upon them. May their souls and the
souls of all the faithful departed
through the mercy of God Rest in
Peace,
Amen
Scripture Reflection:
Jesus tells the disciples of the Pharisee’s to repay to God what belongs to God. As stewards, we should understand the importance of accepting the gifts God has given us and
using them for Him.

Sunday, October 4th
Blessing of the Animals
On the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi recently, Msgr. Rowan, Fr. George and Deacon Bill offered a Pet Blessing for our parish
pets on the Church lawn. As everyone gathered around the Statue of our Blessed Mother, it was a beautiful fall day and a beautiful way to show our four legged friends how much we love them!

1. Our Social Justice Committee’s page: “Catholics Vote” 2. Please consider taking the ANONYMOUS SURVEY ABOUT SUBSTANCE ABUSE IN OUR FARMINGDALE COMMUNITY. We
have partnered with YES Community Counseling for many years to help understand and combat this epidemic, and taking part in this survey will continue to help this wonderful nonprofit organization to do this very important work right here in our neighborhood.
Parish Social Ministry/Outreach: we’re not just a food pantry!
We have 16 different ministries under the umbrella of Outreach / Parish Social
Ministry.
This week’s spotlight is on our BREAD MINISTRY
Did you know that we receive bread from Stew Leonard’s – free of charge every week- for our pantry clients? We are very grateful to Stew’s for their generosity, and for our amazing volunteers who deliver the goods to us early
in the morning! Stew’s Bread makes everyone smile! PS- We often receive calls from good-hearted parishioners who wish to
connect us to other sources. We receive plenty from Stew’s and do not need any more bread, bagels, rolls, cakes or pies. We are blessed!

Catholics Care. Catholics Vote.
“We are called to bring together our principles and our political choices, our values and our votes,
to help build a civilization of truth and love.”
- United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, February 2020
The St. Kilian Social Justice Committee is sharing the importance of political engagement ahead of the 2020 election.
We vote because we are citizens. But we vote conscientiously because we are people of faith. Our consciences are formed through studying Scripture and the teachings of the Church,
examination of the facts, and prayerful reflection.
The dual calling of faith and citizenship lies at the heart of what it means to be a Catholic in the United States. We stand on the shoulders of many Catholics who have gone before us, who have
helped the United States become a better country because of their faith in a loving God. (Source: USCCB)
You may vote one of three ways: By requesting an absentee ballot - https://absenteeballot.elections.ny.gov/ by Tuesday, October 27th.

It was a breezy beautiful day. Thank you all for your participation

OUR LADY OF FATIMA
The second Sunday in October of 1920 was a bright, beautiful day. A Parade was held through the streets of Farmingdale to celebrate the inauguration of the new, “St. Kilian Council, #2204” of the Knights of Columbus.
The parade was led by the boy’s band of the Nazareth Trade School (under the tutelage of Fr. Joseph) and followed by the men of the new Council. A banquet, (prepared by Sisters of St. Dominic) was served to over
150 people. This year, 2020, the Council is celebrating its 100th Anniversary. Because of COVID-19 Pandemic, we will not be having a parade, a big
celebration or a banquet, but, the same spirit is here and we are still here standing firmly, helping our Priests, our Parish and supporting our Catholic ideals. We pray that the Pandemic ends soon
and we can resume our charitable activities and support our Parish. In the meantime, if you are a practical Catholic man, 18 year or older, we invite you to join your
neighbors and become a Knight.
Please join us on Sunday, October 25th, 2020 at
the 12:30pm Mass to celebrate 100 years of the
