General Information Thefollowinginformationisanaddendumtothecurrent2014-2016OzarkChristianCollege

HISTORYOFONLINELEARNINGATOCCOzarkChristianCollegehasbeenofferingdistancelearningcoursesonlinesince1999.These
courseswereintendedtoincreaseschedulingoptionsforresidentialstudentsandtheyweremostlyofferedthroughaconsortiumofChristiancolleges.Thesecourseswerelargelyvideo-basedandwere16weeksinduration.Noonlinedegreeoptionswereavailable.
In2012thecollegeinitiatedastrategicplantocreateafullyonlinedegreeprogramforadultstudents.TheAssociationforBiblicalHigherEducationapprovedtheinitiativeearlyin2015andthefirst

degreewaslaunchedinAugust.Classesarenowofferedin8-weekmoduleswithfivemodulesperyear.Coursesaredesignedtoincorporatediverselearningstylesaroundthreemajordivisionsoftheweek.Earlyintheweek,Monday-Wednesday,studentsareexpectedtoengagecoursematerialsprimarilythroughreadingandwatchingvideolectures.OnThursday-Friday,studentsbeingtointeractwiththeirpeers,submitreflective-typeassignments,andquizzes.Overtheweekend,Saturday-Sunday,studentsintegratenewlearningintosynthesis-typeassignmentsandunitexams.

straightforwardaspossible.Occasionallyanindividualcoursewillhaveanadditionalfeetocoversoftwareorpublisherlicensing.

admitteduntilthosechargesarefullycleared.Thosewhohaveaprisonrecordmusthavebeenreleasedfromprison(notoutonbail)foratleastoneyearinordertodemonstraterecovery,duringwhichtimetheymusthavebeenactivelyinvolvedintheirchurchdirectlyundertheoversightoftheeldersandtheminister(s)ofthatchurch.
INTRODUCTIONTOOCCONLINEStudentsacceptedforadmissionaregivenaccesstoatwo-weekpreparatory(non-credit)
course.Thisintroductionservestwopurposes.First,toorientadultstudentstothehistoryandethosofOCC.Second,toprovideguidanceontheTurabianstylesheet,arefresheraboutstudyskills,andsomeself-guidedinventoriestoassistadultstudentstoknowiftheyarereadyandabletobesuccessfulinafast-pastlearningenvironment.Newstudentswillalsohavetheopportunitytomeetothernewstudentsandbeingparticipatingintheonlinestudentcommunity.
BIBLEKNOWLEDGEEXAMINATIONAllonlinedegreestudentsenrolledintheDO3701INPracticesofSpiritualFormationcoursewill
taketheBibleKnowledgeExamination.Thisexamisanassessmentofthecollege’seffectivenessineducatingstudentsinbiblicalsubjects.Itisnotusedforanyotherpurposes.

Online Degree Program Currently,OCCisonlyapprovedtooffertheBachelorofArtsinBiblicalStudies(BABS)fully
online.Maincampusstudentsareabletosupplementtheirresidentialdegreeswithonlinecourses.However,onlinecoursesmustcompriselessthan50%ofthetotaldegree.
TheBABSisdesignedfortheworkingadultstudentforwhommovingtocampuswouldnotbefeasible.Thecurriculumhasbeenselectedtocontinueinthelong-standingOCCtraditionofteachingtheBibleandministerialcoursesthroughanexegeticaltheologicalperspective.Atthesametime,thedegreeisfashionedtoacceptthegreatestamountoftransferworkpossible,thus,makingfinishinganundergraduatedegreeanattainablegoal.Allthewhile,accreditationstandardsforgeneralandbiblicaleducationaremaintained.
StudentsgraduatingwiththeBABSwillbepreparedforcareersinvocationalchurchworkandChristiannon-profitorganizations.Thedegreeempowersstudentswithsubstantialscripturalknowledge,opportunitiesforspiritualmaturation,culturalevaluationskills,andtheopportunitytodevelopcommunicationandleadershipskills.
Whenstudentsareabletosuccessfullytransferin60credithoursofcoursework,andiftheyareabletoenrollfulltime(twocoursespermodule),thefollowingschedulewillfacilitategraduationwithin24months.AdditionalGeneralEducationandGeneralElectivecourseswillbescheduledastheybecomeavailable.
