Modern Approaches in Biology
First Edition: 2016
i
Foreword
The present book would be a mile stone to focus some fundamental and applied avenues in
biological sciences. In broad spectrum, it covers a significance contribution deciphering the life
process, both on structural, functional, systematic as well as evolutionary point of view. The
compilation of the papers by the editors is a nice peace of collection, covering the biological
science. The data on experiment reflects the hands on session, documentation that might be help ful
for the new comer experimenters. The review articles are well to do in updating the relevant
information to constract the solidity of the subject as a whole from the literature point of view and
even for its textual relevents, the book entitled “Modern approaches in Biology” would be no less in
adding information of biological sciences on proper distribution, evalution and criticism would be
more cementing if their remains any lacuna.

Preface
“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time
to understand more, so that we may fear less.” Marie Curie
‘Modern approaches in Biology’ is a significant book related to modern life. This book has been
written to meet the requirement of students of life sciences. In this project, the editors have selected
10 articles in different disciplines of life sciences. The articles are covering wide area of biology
related to everyday life.
The main objective of this book is: to identify different uses of plants, animals and their products
for the well being of human species, to show what are the threats to those species and how to
conserve them.
A sincere attempt has been made to make the book appealing and valuable.
We readily acknowledge our indebtedness to our Teacher Prof. Sobhan Kumar Mukherjee,
Professor, Department of Botany, University of Kalyani, for his dedication, criticism, guidance and
honest efforts which supported us to complete the present work.
We are grateful to Prof. Chandan Sengupta, Professor, Microbiology and Virology Section,
Department of Botany, University of Kalyani for writing the foreword of this book.
We give our most sincere thanks to Prof. Sankar Narayan Sinha and Dr. Malay Kumar Adak for
their constant encouragement and valuable suggestions.
We extend our thanks to the other contributors: Dr. Tinku Ghosh, Smt. Munmun Kundu, Smt.
