The last two years serving as the President of the Humble ISD Council of PTAs and
16 years of serving Humble ISD have been a combination of fun, learning, making
wonderful new friends, solving problems, learning to deal with trials and extra stress,
trying to keep all of our PTAs informed, many celebrations, completing very
productive projects and yes, at times, exhaustion. I have had a lot of people assist me
along the way and I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything. Below are photos
of some of my favorite memories made with some fantastic people. See more
memories on the last 2 pages……Laura Clarke

Thank you
The Humble ISD Council of PTAs wishes to thank the ExxonMobil Volunteer Importance Program (VIP) for the thousands of dollars in grant money awarded to the Council of PTAs as well as several local PTAs and schools over the past several years. These funds assist in providing additional PTA programs for our students as well as covering existing program costs. The grants are earned based on the individual’s volunteer hours for an organization. The individual must be an EM employee, spouse, or EM retired individual to qualify for a VIP grant. On May 9, 2016 and May 11, 2016, Laura Clarke presented a check for $500 and $1,500 to Kingwood Park PTSA and the Humble ISD of Council of PTAs respectively. To date, Laura Clarke has earned $29,500 in ExxonMobil VIP grant money for Humble ISD schools and PTAs.

Team L3 (Live, Love, Landon) Barrett Kenny, Rachel Morris, Jillian
Smoak & Talon Balcom, all students at Kingwood Middle, participated
& won their age division in the Camp Gladiator relay obstacle course
Take The Scholarship Money & Run. They won because of team work,
dedication & athletic ability. Elm Grove Elementary saw this middle
school team of student leaders as an inspiration so they invited the group
to the pep rally before the big fundraising kickball game on May 6.
Each student member gave an inspirational speech. KPark
Freshman Morgan Morris was there to help with the ceremony and to make a
contribution with her sister, Rachel Morris, of $500 to start the fundraising
efforts for a new playground at Elm Grove. Kingwood Park Student Council
donated small, fun, footballs & cups as giveaways. Bear Branch students
Everett Munoz and Tyler Brown donated stuffed animal as giveaways.
Because of the pep rally, the students at Elm Grove Elementary were
pumped up & ready to support their team & work towards the common goal
of the playground fundraiser. Foster Elementary won the kickball
tournament but Elm
Grove was the true
winner by making new friends, coming together as one team, and using their
athletic abilities to achieve the goal needed to fund the new playground. We
all look forward to next year's tournament!

Remembering Christopher R. Wait – Class of 2016
Kingwood Middle School student Christopher Wait left us to go be with God on April 10,
2012 at the end of his eighth grade year. 2016 would have been his graduation year and the
students in the KMS scholarship photo above were among his classmates. Christopher was very
active in StuCo and community service. He gave the gift of service to his school, KMS PTA,
the Council of PTAs and his local community on a regular basis. He performed that service
with an enthusiasm and exuberance that few middle school students could match. That is the
legacy with which we will hold him in our hearts and memories. The KMS PTA scholarship
fund was created in 2012 as a way to respectfully remember this fun-loving, kind and giving
young man. Christopher is able to continue giving back to his fellow students through
scholarship and I hope he and his family finds joy with how we remember him.
