ABSTRACT
Cosmetics are substances which are used to improve the human body's appearance. Face
powders, compacts, cleansers, creams, sunscreens, face packs, etc. are some of the popular
cosmetics used on the skin. The "face pack" is the smooth powder used for facial application. A
good face pack should provide the skin with the required nutrients. In order to deliver the
required nutrients, it should penetrate subcutaneous tissues. In general, face packs are chemical
compound mixtures, while some are derived from natural sources, many of which are synthetic.
The products used extensively worldwide to maintain and enhance general appearance are
synthetic face packs. Synthetic face packs alone are not responsible for maintaining our skin's
attractive look, as it has a lot of chemicals and toxins that can damage the skin. It therefore
requires some natural ingredients to be combined to give it a fresh, healthy and long-lasting
effect. Herbals are filled with natural vitamins and nutrients, so something incredible is the
culmination of some herbals into a face pack. The use of natural herbals in the face pack
provides benefits such as providing essential nutrients for healthy skin, providing nourishment
for the area being applied, and providing sustained skin effects. However, we can hardly find a
fully herbal cosmetic face pack where the formulation has been used in the entire natural extract.
Herbs that are commonly used for the face pack and their method of preparation and evaluation
are emphasized in the present study.

INTRODUCTION
To improve their appearance, cosmetics are used. Over many centuries, makeup has been
around. The concept of cosmetics and beauty is as ancient as humanity and civilization. In order
to satisfy the demands of users, cosmetics can be produced in an organic and hypoallergenic
form. Women are obsessed with being beautiful looking. So, in order to look charming and
young, they use different beauty products that have herbs. Indian herbs and their significance are
prevalent around the world. An herbal cosmetic is an invaluable gift of nature and has an
increasing demand in the world market. Because of their good activity and relatively minor or nil

side effects with synthetic drugs, herbal formulations have always attracted significant attention.
Herbs and spices have been used in the preservation and improvement of human beauty. Herbs
such as Sandalwood and Turmeric, gram flour and many such herbs have been used for skin care
by Indian women [1]. Herbal cosmetics are defined as beauty products that have desirable
physiological activity due to the herbal ingredient, such as healing, smoothing appearance,
enhancing and conditioning properties. Herbal face packs are now being used on a large scale
because of their various advantages over chemical-based packs. They are the formation of non-
toxic, non-allergic and non-habit. In every aspect, they are natural, having greater shelf lives.
They have no preservatives added to them. They can be easily formulated and stored over a
longer period of time. Face pack is the smooth powder used for facial application, and a good
herbal facepack must provide the skin with the necessary nutrients and should penetrate the
subcutaneous tissues to provide the necessary nutrients. Natural face packs contain some vital
vitamins that are necessary for our skin's health and glow. In many respects, these substances
also prove to be beneficial to our skin. The use of NaturalFacial Packs is less complicated and
quite simple. They help us to look after skin and also demonstrate its worth by increasing the
circulation of the blood within the veins of the face. The effects of the facial packs are usually
temporary and it should be used 2-3 times a week for regular glow. Everyone wants to have fair
and charming skin. Nowadays, among young people, acne, black head, pimples, dark circles are
common. Skin problems are usually because of impurities in the blood, according to Ayurveda.
In the course of improper food and lifestyle, accumulated toxins in the blood cause skin-related
diseases. Various forms of skin require different types of herbal face packs. Herbalface packages
enhance the skin's fairness and smoothness. Through using them according to our skin type,
Wecan derives the maximum benefits of herbal face packs. Skinglow is increasing these face
packs. Herbal facepacks are cheaper and do not have any side effects to naturally achieve fair
skin [2]. The formulation and characterization of cosmetic herbal face pack made from natural
constituents is discussed in the present research paper.
BENEFITS OF HERBAL FACE PACK
1. The mask provides anti-agingeffect prevention against eye puffiness.
2. It lowers inflammation of the skin
3. Removes cells of dead skin from the face
4. Nourishes the complexion.
5. Depending on its herbal ingredients, it helps to reduce acne, pimples, scars and marks.
6. Face packs usually remove the skin's dead cells.
7. These face masks provide the skin with a soothing and relaxing effect.
8. They help to restore the skin's lost shine and glow within a short period of time.
9. Regular use of natural face masks brings glow to the skin and improves the texture and
complexion of the skin.
10. With the judicial use of face packs, the harmful consequences of pollution and harsh
climates can be effectively combated.

11. They help to prevent the skin from aging prematurely.
12. By using natural face packs, the formation of wrinkles, fine lines and sagging of skin can
be effectively controlled.
13. Natural face packages make the skin look healthy and youthful [3].
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN WHILE APPLYING THIS FACE PACK
1. Select the face pack according to your skin type. Before applying the face pack, take the
opinion of the natural therapist or skin specialist concerned.
2. The face pack should not be left for longer than 15 to 20 minutes on the face. Keeping for
a very long time can lead to wrinkle formation, skin slackening and open pores
enlargement.
3. Apply the face pack once every week.
4. Do not attempt to peel or scratch the dried face pack. The underlying skin may be harmed
by this. Before moving the dried face pack, spray water on the face (which is at room
temperature). Roll an ice cube on the skin of your face after removing the mask. This
helps to close open pores and make the skin tighter. It also tonifies the skin and soothes
it.
5. Since this face pack contains coffee, apply it carefully on your skin as coffee can be harsh
when applied with a forehead in specific skin types.
6. Do not vigorously scrub your face. Ineruption of pimples and dark spots can result from
this. When you have the face pack applied, stay away from the heat.
7. Avoid applying a face pack close to the eye zone. The eyes around your skin are very
delicate. The removal process of the face pack may damage the skin around the eyes [4].
DISADVANTAGES OF SYNTHETIC FACE WASHES
They contain a host of chemical and synthetic ingredients that are too dry, harsh on your skin,
and can even make you break out and give you unpleasant and unsightly rashes. The issue with
most face cleansers is. It is therefore important to dissolve the chemical washes and opt for a
healthy, natural, and organic alternative.
In Face Cleansers, Toxic Ingredients:
In most traditional face cleansers and even some washes that claim they are natural and
chemically free, sodium Lauryl Sulfate is found. SLS can cause severe irritation of the skin,
cancer sores, eye damage, and can cause bad acne around the mouth and chin.
You may have an allergy to SLS if you find yourself breaking up in a red and/or bumpy, and
painful rash around your mouth, chin, and eyes. Typically, this rash is very difficult to heal
without proper treatment from a dermatologist with medication.

SLS can also be hidden as sodium coco sulfate in the ingredient list on a face cleanser, which is
still equally as harmful despite the fact that it is derived from coconuts and not manufactured
artificially in a laboratory. SLS strips your face of its natural oils, which in order to combat the
problem can make your face produce even more oil. Your skin will therefore be dry, irritated,
and it is likely that your acne will be much worse.
Fragrance is another ingredient that should be avoided at all costs, not only in face washing, but
also in any personal care or make-up product. Fragrance is where many businesses prefer to
conceal lots of chemicals and artificial ingredients. It is not necessary for companies to disclose
what is included in the term "fragrance."
In addition, most fragrances are stabilized with phthalates, chemicals that, when tested on
animals, are connected to reproductive problems and birth defects. It is necessary to avoid
anything that has a fragrance listed as one of the ingredients and we should look for an option
that either does not list the fragrance as an ingredient or that the fragrance comes from blends of
essential oil [5].
Parabens are also extremely prevalent, and in our article on foundations, we can read all about
the dangers of parabens here. Parabens are an extremely common ingredient in products for
makeup and skincare. If we do not purchase natural and organic products, the likelihood of
parabens lurking in your face cleanser is high.
Tons of chemical products based on chemicals are available on the market. And hats off to their
marketing abilities as they so readily use terms such as paraben-free, oil-free, etc. Here is the list
of the drawbacks of using these products—
1. The probability of developing skin allergies, irritation, and side effects is increased by
these harmful chemicals.
2. Your skin is at risk of premature aging if you are constantly using such chemicals.
3. Toxic chemicals make overtime comprehensive and saggy for your skin.
4. Acne and blemishes can result from such impure ingredients [6].

1.Indian nettle
The Indian nettleplant is an annual herb with catkin like inflorescence that can grow up to three
feet tall. With its unique inflorescence, we can easily recognize this plant. These plants are
commonly found in countries such as India, Africa, Pakistan, etc. Here in India, along road sides
and in waste lands, you can find this plant growing in abundance. Kuppaimeni has incredible anti
inflammatory properties. It can very effectively reduce inflammation when applied externally.
These are also helpful in helping unwanted hair development.
2. coffee bean
Coffee scrubs are amazing to use both for our face and body. They have amazing skin benefits
and can be easily made at home. From reducing cellulite, acne break outs and stretch marks to
exfoliating dead skin, it does have lot of skin benefits. Coffee has anti inflammatory and anti
bacterial properties and using it will greatly help prevent acne breakouts along with fading acne
scars.Coffee is rich in antioxidants and using any antioxidant rich ingredient will prevent free
radical damage which is the main cause of premature ageing of the skin. Antioxidants help
protects skin from both sun damage and pollution which are the two main culprits for skin ageing
and skin damage [7].

3. Turmeric
Turmeric is one of the most frequently used spices in India. There's not a day I didn't use
turmeric, we use it extensively for cooking, remedies and skin care as well. Curcuma Longa is
the botanical name for turmeric. Turmeric is one of the best ingredients for our skin. Turmeric
contains antioxidants and components that are anti-inflammatory. These characteristics can give
the skin light and luster. Turmeric, by bringing out its natural glow, may also revive your skin.
4.Aloe vera
For topical skin conditions, Aloe vera is perhaps one of the most commonly used herbal
remedies. This is because it is recognized that the gel-like components of the plant heal the skin
from a range of minor ailments. The gel contains vitamin E, which is excellent for preventing
aging of the skin and sagging of the skin. The juice of Aloe Vera brightens the skin, improves
elasticity, soothes skin irritation and reduces fine lines and wrinkles [8].

A highly potent beauty ingredient is the Green Gram or Moong Dal. Not only does it have
several health benefits, but to deal with skin problems such as acne and dry skin, you can
also add it to your beauty regimen. By nourishing it and exfoliating it, Green Gram
rejuvenates your skin. It removes dead cells from the skin and brightens the skin's texture.

natural bleaching properties that can significantly help to lighten the tan. In addition to
being cool and soothing, it also has antiseptic properties that can heal your skin and keep it
looking fresh and glowing [9].
6. Multani mitti
Multani mitti is also known as fuller's earth, meaning 'mud from Multan'. Fuller's Earth is filled
with minerals and mostly contains diverse compositions of hydrous aluminium silicates or clay
minerals. Montmorillonite, kaolinite, and attapulgite, and minor quantities of other minerals such
as calcite, dolomite, and quartz, are typical components found in Fuller's Earth. Fuller's Earth
applies in some areas to calcium bentonite, an altered volcanic ash that is mainly composed of

montmorillonite. Since fuller's earth is a strong absorbent, in filters, decontamination, poisoning
control, litter boxes, and as a cleaning agent, this compound sees a range of applications today.
Fuller's Earth is useful as a cleanser in cosmetology and dermatology, eliminating grease, debris,
and impurities from the skin and even helping to cure acne and other skin issues. Multanimitti
may slough dead skin cells away and eliminate black heads.
7. Neem
For decades, neem leaves have been used as a natural antibacterial in traditional Asian medicine
that calms the skin and soothes inflammation. In bioflavonoids, which are antioxidants believed
to shield cells and molecules from damage and symptoms of ageing, the leaves are naturally
plentiful. As well as minimizing scarring and balancing the color of the skin, Neem will also
wash away acne and blackheads. It is the oldest and strongest natural skin product, flushes out
the pollutants and tightens pores for a flawless complexion [10].
8. Saffron
It has been noted that saffron has various beauty benefits. In soothing skin, it has been a time-
honored ingredient that makes it blemish free and radiant. The skin turns dull and lifeless due to
toxins, harsh weather and external influences. Standard saffron application will breathe life into
your skin, making it more radiant. For skin tan reduction, the skin calming and lightening
properties of saffron make it functional [11].

9.Almonds
Almonds are high in vitamin E, which helps decrease the symptoms of aging and nourishes the
skin. Vitamin E has some antioxidant properties and are believed to block the body from free
radicals that can play a significant role in the mechanism of ageing. It is an excellent hydrating
agent and has exfoliating powers [12].
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION
In order to improve blood circulation, rejuvenate the muscles and help preserve the
elasticity of the skin and eliminate dirt from the skin pores, natural face packs or masks are used.
The benefit of herbal cosmetics is their non-toxic nature, minimizing the utility of certain
products for allergic reactions and time-tested use.
Natural treatments are more appropriate with the view that they have less side effects
than pharmaceutical ones that are safer. In the world economy, herbal formulations are rapidly in
demand. The herbal face pack containing various plant powders and gel is a very successful
attempt to create it. We have therefore found good properties for the face packs in the present
analysis and have discovered the beneficial advantages of face packs for human use as a beauty
product.
