applications. Maintain a working relationship with the University IRB personnel enabling

quick turnaround and continuing consultation as needed.

2013- 2014 Umea University, Umea, Sweden (2013) and BUSSW CARS (2013-2014): mentored two Swedish doctoral students. Responsible for teaching basic research skills including

hypothesis development, theory development, data management, bivariate and beginning

level multivariate analyses, and guiding the development of drafts of methods and results

sections for academic papers, resulting in several co-authored publications by the

doctoral students.

2019 to present 1UM1DA049412-01 Samet (PI) 04/17/2019- 012/31/2023

National Institute for Drug Abuse Massachusetts HEALing Communities Study –

Reducing overdose deaths by 40% (2019-2023). The MassHEAL study will implement

and evaluate an intervention targeting overdose fatalities in 16 highly affected

Massachusetts communities via a cluster-randomized parallel group design. We will

work with community stakeholders using a data-driven approach to narrow gaps in

services by implementing a suite of tailored programs to reduce OD deaths. The primary

study outcome is number of overdose fatalities in the last year of a 3-year intervention

period.

Role: Community Engagement Core team member; Community Advisory Board

2019 Suicide and Opioid Overdose Prevention: Needs Assessment for Frontline Staff. Funded

by Massachusetts Department of Public Health/AdCare Educational Institute. Co-PI.
