Guided all along by the rights-based approach and ground realities, this premier self-help organization of the blind continued to consolidate its ongoing activities for the development and empowerment of our visually impaired brothers and sisters. In addition, AICB made a determined effort to make a dent upon existing misconceptions and prejudices about the visually impaired, laying special emphasis on proper guidance and education of parents. We take pleasure in presenting a brief round-up of our services and initiatives during the period. Some Major Distinctions: AICB’s endeavours continued to receive wide recognition and acclaim. It was represented on a wide range of Committees/Sub-groups constituted by different Government Authorities and other Agencies on issues relating to work for persons with disabilities in general and the visually impaired in particular. REPORT OF ACTIVITIES2014-2015

The period under report had its usual share of successes and challenges for All IndiaConfederation of the Blind (AICB). Guided all along by the rights-based approach and groundrealities, this premier self-help organization of the blind continued to consolidate its ongoingactivities for the development and empowerment of our visually impaired brothers and sisters.In addition, AICB made a determined effort to make a dent upon existing misconceptionsand prejudices about the visually impaired, laying special emphasis on proper guidance andeducation of parents. We take pleasure in presenting a brief round-up of our services andinitiatives during the period.

Some Major Distinctions:

AICB’s endeavours continued to receive wide recognition and acclaim. It was representedon a wide range of Committees/Sub-groups constituted by different Government Authoritiesand other Agencies on issues relating to work for persons with disabilities in general and thevisually impaired in particular. Thus, the Confederation’s representatives were invited andparticipated in the following important Conferences/meetings:

l National Conference on Skill Development—Department of Empowerment ofPersons with Disabilities, Government of India—Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi—21st March, 2015.

The President of the Confederation, Mr. A.K. Mittal was conferred the prestigious R.M.Alpaiwala Memorial Award by the National Association for the Blind (India), at a function heldin Mumbai on 19th January, 2015, in recognition of his contributions in the voluntary sector.The Vice President of the Confederation, Dr. Anil K. Aneja was presented the Best RoleModel (Blindness/Low Vision) National Award by the President of India at a function organizedat Vigyan Bhawan by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment on the occasion of theWorld Day of the Disabled on December 3, 2014. The Secretary General of theConfederation, Mr. J.L. Kaul has been nominated by the President, World Blind Union as theChair of the Nominations Committee for the forthcoming General Assembly of the Union.

Commencing from 1st January, 2015, the World Blind Union extended into the fourth year itsAdvocacy Coordinator Project, which is being implemented in partnership with thisConfederation. The Project is supported by CBM International.

Captain Chandanlal Special School for the Blind:

The School is located in a small village, Behrampur, in district Gurgaon, Haryana State. Itcontinued to consolidate its activities during the period under report.

A total of 17 new students (M-11, F-6) were admitted to the School during the year. TheSchool had 115 children (M-69, F-46) on its rolls during the period.

In addition to creditable performance at School examinations with about hundred percentpass result, the children of the School continued to excel at different literary, music andother events in competition with their sighted and blind peers. They, thus, secured as manyas 50 different prizes at these competitions including 15 first prizes.

With support from Rotary Club, Qutab Enclave, Gurgaon, the School installed a Solar Geysersystem for its students which is, of course environment friendly and more cost effective. TheConfederation continued receiving support from Sponsored Parent’s Group (Sweden), throughMr. Johannes Kettelhoit. A new Managing Committee was elected under the Chairmanshipof Mr. Pramod Raghav for the School for a term of two years during this period.

The teachers attended two workshops/seminars organized by NCERT for the developmentof exemplar material for curriculum transaction. Four medical camps were conducted duringthe year by the Civil Hospital, Gurgaon and Max Hospital in collaboration with M/s AONHewitt which facilitated comprehensive health check-up of all students. The School’s ScienceLab, Touch & Tell Museum, Geography Room, Computer Section and Braille Library continuedto enrich the children’s educational development and progression as important highlights ofits compensatory activities.

Braille Press:

The Hon’ble Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, Mr. ThaawarChand Gehlot visited the Confederation’s Braille Press on the occasion of Louis Braille’s206th Birth Anniversary Celebrations on January 4, 2015. He was accompanied by Mr. Awanish

K. Awasthi, Joint Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Duringthe year under report, the Press produced as many as 88,66,068 Braille pages running into87,653 Braille volumes. It brought out during the period, a total of 225 new titles whichincluded textbooks for different States, monthly mainstream women’s periodicals in Hindi,Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada and Tamil, 4 children’s magazines in Hindi and Tamil, 3 quarterly/bi-monthly journals in Hindi and English. Approximately 50,000 readers benefitted fromthese reading materials.

Recording Studio-cum-Audio Library:

58 new titles were recorded during the year. These were copied into 241 CDs, 17 DVDs, 120USBs and 18 I-PODs. The Unit had a total of 255 beneficiaries from Delhi and outside.

Training and Placement:

The Confederation continues to run a wide range of in-house training programmes for thebenefit of educated and newly blinded individuals. It also strives to find remunerative jobsfor the visually impaired. Details are presented below:

a) Hindi Braille Stenography:

Eligible visually impaired candidates are imparted training at this one-year course inHindi Braille shorthand, typewriting and computer applications (Hindi). It opens upemployment opportunities for the trainees in different Government Ministries,Departments, public sector banks, State Governments, etc. 15 candidates (M-6, F-9) completed the course in July, 2014. They came from the States of Chhattisgarh,Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. A fresh batch of 15 candidates (M-6, F-9) commenced training with effect from August, 2014. The State-wise break-upof the batch is given below:

b) Computer Training:

As many as 49 individuals trained in computer applications through the Confederation’scourses cleared the CCC certificate examination of the National Institute of Electronicsand Information Technology during the year. They included 10 students trained atcourses sponsored by the Confederation at Tamilnadu Association of the Blind, Chennai.

One of the important initiatives of the Confederation in the area is a course titled “Oneyear Course in Computer Applications and Communication Skills”. 9 trainees (M-4, F-5) completed the course during the session ending July 31, 2014. Another group of 9trainees (M-6, F-3) constituted the batch for the next session which commenced onAugust 1, 2014. These trainees came from the States of Assam, Bihar, Haryana,Jharkhand Karnataka, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The examinationof the course is conducted by NIIT at the end of each year and certificates are alsoissued by them to successful candidates.

In addition to the one-year programme, the Confederation also runs computer coursesof shorter durations. These courses provide training in basic computer skills which,usually, extend to a period of about three months. 46 candidates (M-28, F-18)completed this basic training during the year. They included trainees from theStenography course as also those from our Crisis Management programme.

The Confederation’s Stenography and Computer training programmes are supportedby M/s AON Hewitt & Charities Aid Foundation India (CAF).

c) Crisis Management Training Programme:

These courses are intended for lately blinded individuals and the content and durationare tailored to the requirements of each individual. 36 such persons (M-28, F-8)received training during the year in such areas as orientation and mobility, daily livingskills, home management, Braille reading and writing and the use of computers as perthe individual’s situation.

This programme has been possible through assistance from UNITAS, Switzerland.

d) Placement:

The Confederation has continued its efforts in an intensive manner to locate suitablejob-avenues for individuals completing training here. It is our consistent endeavour toenable our ex-trainees to get employment opportunities in government departments/banks etc. at par with their sighted counterparts. We also strive to get our traineesemployed in the private sector in appropriate work-settings.

A total of 18 candidates (M-7, F-11) have been found jobs in various nationalizedbanks and central and state governments. In addition, 7 individuals (M-5, F-2) havegot employed in the private sector.

Community-Based Rehabilitation Services:

The Confederation has continued its efforts to reach out to visually impaired persons in ruralareas, in some of the more backward districts. Work in this sphere is based on the disabilityspecific CBR approach, as before.

The Confederation’s CBR projects are functioning in the districts of Hamirpur and Kaushambi(Uttar Pradesh) and Mewat/Palwal (Haryana). The projects in Hamirpur and Mewat/Palwalare supported by the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (NABP), Norwayand in Kaushambi by the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), USA, AICB and Lions

Club of Allahabad City. Our Kaushambi programme is the first ever rehabilitation projectsupported by LCIF in the world.

Details of work undertaken in these districts during the period under report are given below:

a) Number of villages surveyed—182 including 2 Town areas (6 Blocks)b) Total population covered—462,376 (M-252,008, F-210,368)c) Incurably blind persons identified—633 (M-363, F-270)d) Number of persons provided training—335 (M-208, F127)e) Areas in which training imparted—orientation & mobility, daily living skills, home

As per available resources, the Confederation’s target was to provide basic training to 100visually impaired persons in each of the three districts with a total of 300 persons during theyear, which was actually exceeded by 35 (12%) during the period. Similarly, the target withregard to economic rehabilitation was 45 persons per project (135 persons for three projects)which was exceeded by 30 (about 22.2%).

In addition:200 visually impaired persons (M-138, F-62) were provided transistors free of cost.

Government pensions were arranged for 58 persons (M-25, F-33).

Blindness certificates, a prerequisite to getting access to Government facilities andconcessions, were obtained from competent authorities for 133 persons (M-82, F-51).

Train/Bus passes which facilitated travel at greatly reduced cost, were arranged for 307persons (M-187, F-120).

Mobility canes were made available free of cost to 335 persons (M-208, F-127).

Blankets were provided free of charge for 369 persons (M-227, F-142) to enable them tocope with severe winter conditions.

Concerned authorities were motivated to provide accommodation (dwelling units) to 8 persons(M-7, F-1) under mainstream Government housing schemes.

29 toilets were constructed in the homes of rural families with the specific purpose of benefittingblind women, who were otherwise having to face serious problems outdoors. These included2 toilets constructed with Government support under a mainstream scheme.

10 children (M-6, F-4) of visually impaired beneficiaries were helped to get scholarshipsfrom the concerned educational authorities under a mainstream scheme @ of Rs.500 perchild per month.

12 clients (M-10, F-2) were assisted to get remunerative work under the Government’sNational Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

25 children (M-16, F-9) were referred to mainstream and special schools.

Apart from these direct client-oriented services, three awareness workshops were organizedduring the period one in each of the three districts. 347 persons with different disabilities (M-181, F-166) attended these workshops each of which was of a day’s duration. A largenumber of district officials and village workers also participated.

The workshops provided information to the participants on various important issues relatingto the rights of persons with disabilities, disability-related legislations, concessions and facilitiesavailable for persons with disabilities in particular and mainstream Government ruraldevelopment and employment schemes which could benefit persons with disabilities aswell.

Eye Health and Eye Care Services:

With support from NABP, the Confederation continued to provide eye care, eye screeningand related services in Mewat/Palwal and Hamirpur districts while these services were providedin Kaushambi jointly by the Confederation and the Lions Club of Allahabad City during theperiod. Details are given below:

a) 19,464 adults (M-10,578, F-8,886) and 15,838 children (M-8776, F-7062) were helpedto get their eye-sight screened.

b) 108 local schools served as the venues for eye screening of children.c) As a result of these screening services, 2,497 persons (M-1,283, F-1,214) were

provided eye glasses free of cost.d) 2,848 persons (M-1506, F-1342) were enabled to get IOL surgeries resulting in

improvement in their eye sight to varying degrees. These surgeries were conductedfree of charge at the Satguru Netra Chikitsalya, Chitrakoot and ICARE, Noida. Here,our project staff in partnership with the teams from the concerned hospitals identifiedcataract patients and had them transported to the hospitals for surgery. The staff alsodid necessary follow-up on the patients’ return to their homes after surgery. Besides,they helped 646 persons (M-346, F-300) to get post operative glasses, as per need,through above hospitals support.

e) 53 Eye care meetings were organized in the districts to provide basic information tothe villagers about eye health and eye care. An average of 40 persons attended eachof these meetings. The meetings also provided an opportunity to the rural folk to gettheir eyes checked and to be referred to nearby hospitals for treatment of related eyeproblems/diseases.

f) 136 children (M-83, F-53) were provided Vitamin A capsules free of cost.

Women Empowerment:

The Confederation makes it a point to cover as many visually impaired girls/women aspossible in all its educational, training and rural rehabilitation programmes. This would beevident from the figures given above in the case of each of the concerned activities. Inaddition, the Confederation also runs the following activities specifically for visually impairedgirls and women with support from Christoffel Blindenmission (CBM):

a) Marga Schulze Merit Scholarships:An amount of Rs. 3,87,714/- was disbursed to the students selected for scholarshipsfor the 2013-2014 academic session as the final installment due to them.

A total of 177 eligible applications were received for the award of scholarships for theacademic session 2014-2015. A meeting of the Selection Committee was held at theConfederation’s head office on 18th October, 2014 at which 175 students were selectedfor the award, the other two were not selected since they had already got employmentduring the intervening period. However, one more student whose result was declaredlate, was also subsequently selected for scholarship, since she fulfilled the requisiteconditions. 48 of the candidates thus selected were continuing cases while theremaining 128 were fresh applicants. A total amount of Rs.20,61,333/- was disbursedas merit scholarships for the 2014-2015 session. Scholarships were presented to 145students at a function held at Confederation’s Head Office on 7th December, 2014. Mr.Yogesh Chandolia, Mayor, Delhi North was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Thescholarships for the remaining students were forwarded by post.

b) Intensive Training Course:

This course was organized at the Confederation’s headoffice in Rohini, Delhi w.e.f.May 26 to June 30, 2014. 29 V.I. women from 10 states—Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat,Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan and UttarPradesh participated. They were provided intensive practical training in a wide arrayof activities including computer-induction, orientation and mobility, home management,stitching, personal grooming, self-defence skills etc. In addition, theoretical instructionswere imparted with the help of appropriate resource persons on different aspects ofleadership roles, personality development and women-specific issues.

c) Computers:

21 laptops with screen readers were presented to college-going V.I. girl-students andI.T. girl trainees, after proper screening during the period. These were intended toenable the recipients to work independently in the sphere of communication andperusing their study material on various related sites. The recipients included 13participants of Intensive Training Course.

d) Hostel Facilities:

These facilities were provided to 55 college-going V.I. girl-students and female vocationaltrainees during the period. The facilities included provision of board, lodging andreader services. The facility has proved extremely popular among the beneficiaries inview of the available safe and conducive environment.

Advocacy Initiatives:

During the period under report, the Confederation has continued its advocacy endeavoursthrough judicial interventions, making representations relating to various policy formulationsof the Government and networking as well as sensitization. Whereas on one hand, importantissues have been taken up, the period under report has also been utilized to do groundworkfor future action on a number of pressing matters. Salient details are as under:

1. Judicial Action:

The Confederation has been active in approaching various High Courts as also theoffice of the Chief Commissioner (Disabilities), Government of India for upholding andprotecting the rights of persons with disabilities. Some major initiatives have been:

a) At the instance of the Confederation, the Chief Commissioner (Disabilities) vide hisorder dated 15.05.2014 has directed the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Boardto issue a corrigendum to its earlier Advertisement and reserve 1% of the vacanciesfor persons with blindness and low vision in the posts of Special Education Teacherand TGT (Computer Science) in Directorate of Education, Municipal Corporation ofDelhi and NDMC. The Order further stated that persons with disabilities includingthose with blindness and low vision for whom the posts have been identified as suitable,can compete for appointment against unreserved vacancies as well in accordancewith Para 6 of Department of Personnel & Training’s O.M. Dated 29.12.2005.

b) A major issue relating to recognition of the Special B.Ed. degree as equivalent toGeneral B.Ed. has been taken up by filing a case first in the Delhi High Court and thenin the Central Administrative Tribunal. A number of visually impaired persons and othersopt for doing a ‘Special B.Ed.’ degree course instead of ‘General B.Ed.’ However, whenthey apply for various school teaching positions, they find to their dismay that their‘Special B.Ed.’ degree is not recognized, as the employers insist on a ‘General B.Ed.’degree for mainstream school teaching jobs.

c) A case against Allahabad Bank and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has beentaken up in the Court of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities for notissuing appointment letter to a visually impaired person due to a small technical snagdespite his qualifying as a general category candidate.

d) A case has been filed in the Rajasthan High Court against Rajasthan Madarsa Boardfor denying a visually impaired employee salary for over 3 years. Two hearings haveso far taken place but final result has yet to be received.

e) An important issue relating to accessibility for the disabled at the Metro stations wastaken up when we came to know that one visually impaired lady, working as AssistantProfessor, fell on the metro track from a dangerous height because there were nobarriers on the platform. We worked with media to highlight this incident in the nationalpress and also served a legal notice to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. In response toour notice, the DMRC have agreed to pay compensation to the aggrieved party.

f) Individualized guidance through counseling has continued to be provided to differentvisually impaired persons with regard to judicial action in support of their rights, duringthe period.

2. Representations:

The Confederation has sent its inputs to the Ministry for Social Justice & Empowermentin respect of a number of policy initiatives of the Government, which among othersinclude:

a) Creation of Unique Disability Identity Data (UDID);b) Revision of the Grant-in-aid provisions under Deen Dayal Rehabilitation Scheme;c) Scheme for the establishment, modernization and capacity augmentation of Braille

Presses in the country.d) National Action Plan (NAP) on Skill Development for Persons With Disabilities.

We have also made a representation to the Parliamentary Standing Committeedeliberating on the Draft Rights of Persons With Disabilities Bill, 2014. The representationcontains a number of suggestions on education, employment and enforcement issuespertaining to the Bill.

3. Advocacy Workshops:

a) Two 2-day national seminars on Advocacy for the South and North zone office bearers/Executive Committee members of Kerala Federation of the Blind were conducted withthe funding and guidance of the Confederation in Calicut and Thiruvanandapuram inthe months of November, 2014 and January, 2015, in which 78 leaders participated.Ms. M. Muthu Selvi, Secretary, AICB acted as chief resource person at these seminars.The seminars aimed primarily at fostering legal consciousness among the activists ofKFB and on a larger level the formation of an advocacy group for KFB.

b) Another one day advocacy workshop for blind leaders from Chennai was organizedon 3rd January, 2015 which was attended by 46 participants (M-19, F-27). Presentationson various aspects of legal rights of the visually impaired were made by knowledgeablepersons. The objective of the workshop was to create legal awareness among theyoung blind leaders. Topics like PWD Act 1995, RPD Bill 2014, UN Convention, RTIAct 2005 were discussed in Tamil language. Hon’ble Mr. Justice N Kripakaran, MadrasHigh Court was the Chief Guest in the Valedictory function. On this occasion, theChief Guest also released the first Braille and print copies in Tamil of the Confederation’spublication titled “Maa Se Maa Tak”.

c) A similar one-day advocacy workshop was organized by the Confederation at its headoffice in Delhi on 8th March, 2015 for visually impaired youth leaders from Delhi. Theworkshop had 33 participants. The agenda of the workshop consisted largely of mattersrelating to disability-legislations, UNCRPD, advocacy tools, upcoming Rights of Personswith Disabilities Bill, Right to Information Act, employment etc.

4. Resource Material:

a) The Confederation has formulated a comprehensive list of posts/jobs in public sectorbanks, which can be performed by blind and low vision persons. The list sets outpossible job profiles for the visually impaired in banking establishments.

b) Our efforts to provide meaningful guidance to parents of blind children received furtherimpetus when the Department of Disability Affairs (now Department of Empowermentof Persons with Disabilities), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment decided towork in collaboration with us for ensuring a much wider dissemination of the messagescontained in our publication “Maa Se Maa Tak”. Thus, under advice from theDepartment, National Institute for the Visually Handicapped (NIVH) and thisConfederation jointly published 5000 copies of this booklet with NIVH providing thenecessary funding. The publication was formally released at NIVH on November 14,2014 by the Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Mr. Thaawar ChandGehlot. Our President, Mr. A. K. Mittal was specially invited on this occasion. In themeanwhile, the Confederation has, on its own published in Braille and in print theTamil translation of the booklet and has provided this useful material to the parentsthrough all schools for the blind in Tamil Nadu.

c) NIVH has also authorized the Confederation to prepare a video film for the benefit ofparents of visually impaired children on the basis of the messages contained in thebooklet. Accordingly, an agreement has been signed with a reputed media agency for

the purpose and the first cut of the film is now being finalized. The project is beingfunded by NIVH.

Louis Braille Birth Anniversary Celebrations:

Each year, the Confederation takes great pride in celebrating the Birth Anniversary of LouisBraille, our emancipator, in a befitting manner. This year was no exception.

The celebrations commenced with the 14th edition of the Confederation’s All India BrailleReading and Writing Competitions. Over 100 students from 32 institutions belonging to 15States participated in the competitions which were held separately for Hindi and English.The competitors were divided into six groups for reading and writing in both languages.Prizes worth Rs.1,00,000/- were at stake.

The Confederation launched the third All India Madanlal Khandelwal Memorial Braille EssayCompetition by inviting entries in August, 2014. This competition was open for persons up to25 years (junior group) and those above 25 years (senior group). It was held in English,Hindi and Tamil. 47 entries were received for these competitions and prizes worth Rs. 72,000/- were given away to 16 winners.

The main function was held at the Confederation’s premises in Rohini, Delhi to mark LouisBraille’s 206th Birth Anniversary. Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Mr. ThaawarChand Gehlot was the Chief Guest and Mr. Awanish K. Awasthi, Joint Secretary, Departmentof Disability Affairs also accompanied the Minister at the function. Mr. Lalit Anand, GeneralSecretary, Saksham, Delhi was the Guest of Honour.

The Minister evinced keen interest in the exhibition of modern aids and appliances for theblind, which were demonstrated by school students.

Some of the major highlights of the function were:

a) Presentation of prizes to the winners of the Braille and essay competitions.b) Krishna Kumari Varma Memorial Award presentation to a blind student, Ms. Pavithra

Molugu, securing first position in M.A. (History) at Hyderabad University.c) An attractive cultural programme presented by the children of the Confederation’s

school for the blind.

In his address, the Minister outlined some of the Schemes of his Department for the benefitof the visually impaired including the newly instituted Scheme of support for Braille presses.He also assured utmost cooperation for action on the Memorandum dealing with Braillepromotion presented to him by the Confederation at the function. The Minister furtherannounced that he had sanctioned a grant of Rs. 1,69,02,324/- in respect of theConfederation’s application for assistance under the new Braille Press Scheme. TheDepartment’s formal sanction letter in the matter is awaited.

Other Activities:

a) Support to Affiliates: The Confederation’s interaction with its affiliates who form ourvalued partners, takes many forms. It has conducted advocacy seminars/workshopsfor affiliates in Delhi, Chennai and Kerala, as reported earlier here. The Confederation

also welcomes eligible candidates sponsored by affiliates for admission to in-housetraining courses as well as award of merit scholarships.

In addition, the Confederation has contributed its mite in a modest manner towardssupport to the affiliates as per details given below:

b) Braille Equipment Banks: The Confederation’s Scheme of providing easy access tobasic assistive devices at subsidized rates continued during the period through itsBraille equipment bank service. These banks are run at the Confederation’s HeadOffice in Delhi and at the following affiliates:

Bihar Netraheen ParishadM.P. Welfare Association for the Blind (Indore)Blind Welfare Council (Vadodara)Drishti (Chitrakoot).

During the year, devices worth Rs. 6,98,318 were sold to individual users.

c) AICB Blind Senior Citizens’ Committee: The Committee held monthly meetings duringthe year to deliberate upon issues of direct concern to senior citizens with visualimpairment. The Committee also organized two get-togethers during the year in whichabout 100 visually impaired senior citizens participated.

d) AICB General Assembly: The Confederation is holding its quadrennial GeneralAssembly in Hyderabad this time. To be held on 11th to 13th October, 2015, the event isbeing organized in collaboration with our local affiliate, Development Welfare Associationfor the Blind.

The major highlight of the General Assembly would be a two-day National Conferenceon Education of the Visually Impaired. The Conference has as its theme: “RTE Actand other Educational Initiatives—Issues and Challenges”. Six working sessions areplanned during the Conference to focus on such issues as:l Right to Education Act and its coverage of the visually impaired and related

Schemes;l Initiatives concerning training of teachers;

l Provision of textbooks and assistive devices;

l Tertiary education.

The Assembly will conclude with the meeting of its General Body, election of the newCentral Executive members and the presentation of a Plan of Action at the valedictoryfunction.

e) Development of Databases: The Confederation is in the process of compiling andstoring data on the present employment status of its ex-trainees/beneficiaries. Thisdatabase will have the obvious benefits of informing the community about theachievements of our beneficiaries as also facilitating easier communication with andamong them. The information would be available on the Confederation’s website byend of April, 2015 .

Similarly, the Confederation has undertaken the task of assembling in one placeinformation about judgements delivered by different High Courts and the SupremeCourt in respect of matters concerning persons with disabilities. This vitally significantand much sought-for data will also be available on the Confederation’s website byApril-end.

f) Website: Our website, too, is now fully accessible. It contains a wide range of information/documents not just on the work of the Confederation, but various aspects of action/schemes/circulars of the Government of India.

Our Secretary, Ms. M. Muthu Selvi along with Mr. Polimati Naveen Chandra have beenworking with great commitment and efficiency for the development of the websiteincluding the databases.
