VULVA TALKS
W H E R E D O T H E Y C O M E F R O M ?
All sex organs start from the same foundation, only
later typical ly di f ferentiat ing themselves into the male
and female genital ia at the seven to eight week mark.
In females , the internal genital ia transforms into the
uterus, ovaries , fa l lopian tubes and vagina. The external
genital ia becomes the vulva, or the part you can see.

. . .encompasses the cl itor is ,
urethra , labia majora and minora ,
mons pubis , and vaginal
entrance . The mons pubis i s the
rounded mound of fatty t issue
that covers the pubic bone , while
the labia majora refers to the
fatty folds of t issue that protects
the entire vulva .
Both get covered with pubic hair
upon puberty . Within the labia
majora l ies the labia minora ,
which surrounds the vaginal and
urethral openings . All three are
r ich in nerve endings , and
stimulat ion of them can provide
extreme pleasure , as they
indirectly st imulate the cl itor is .
THERE IS NO“NORMAL”
LOOKING VULVA. SIZE AND COLOUR
DIFFERENCESABOUND!
This also means that what feels good to oneperson (such as increased pressure on thelabia) might not feel good to another. It’s
important to keep in mind how every bodyand pleasure preference is different
- and isn’t that beautiful?
VAGINAE N T E R T H E . . .
The vagina i s a highly elast ic
internal organ which performs
several essential functions , such as
al lowing for penetrat ive sex and
the passage of menstrual blood
and babies . The vagina i sn ’t
straight but rather angled , curving
towards the bel ly .
The vagina also plays a role in
female pleasure . Although the
back ⁄ has l i t t le sensit iv i ty , which
is why tampons and menstrual
cups can be inserted with l i t t le
pain or feel ing ,
the lower ⁄ of the vagina contains
nearly 90% of the vaginal nerve
endings . In addit ion , when sexual ly
excited , the mucous membranes of
its walls swel l and release a l iquid ,
al lowing for easier penetrat ion .
Final ly , the vaginal muscles usual ly
contract leading up to a very
pleasurable orgasm .
CLITERACY
T H E M A I N A T T R A C T I O N :
I N T R O D U C I N G T H E C L I T O R I S !
Most people only assume that the cl i tor is is just the nub
we can see, hidden within the labial folds . But that ’s
real ly just ⁄ of the entire structure, with the rest hidden
inside the body. The entire cl i tor is is made up of the
cl itoral glans and hood ( i .e . , what you see on the outside)
plus the cl i toral shaft (or body) , crura (or arms) , corpus
carvernosum, urethral sponge and vest ibular bulbs.
CLITORAL ANATOMY
T H E S U R P R I S I N G
These internal parts of the
cl i tor is surround the vagina ,
wrapping around the s ides of the
vaginal walls to form a wishbone
shape . Made of the same erecti le
t issue as the penis , the cl itor is
engorges with blood when
stimulated and can become
erect when aroused . When this
happens , you wil l usual ly be able
to see the physical change even
from the outside : the vulva wil l
appear puff ier and the cl itoral
glans wil l look harder .
EVER-CHANGING
U N I Q U E A N D . . .
Clitor ises come in al l dif ferent
shapes and s izes . Some are large
and highly vis ible ; some are
smaller and more tucked away
under the hood .
They can even be posit ioned
dif ferently on the vulva , either
closer or further away f rom the
vaginal opening .The cl itor is i s an
ever -changing organ that never
stops growing . From the womb
onwards , the cl itor is only gets
bigger . When a woman i s 32
years old , her cl itor is i s double
the s ize i t was when she f i rst
started puberty .
The cl itor is also interacts
with over 15 ,000 addit ional
nerve endings throughout
the pelvis , which explains
why cl itoral st imulat ion can
feel oh so pleasurable .
A HIGHLY SENSITIVEORGANAlthough there (sadly ) hasn ’t
been nearly enough research
on the cl itor is as there
should be , i t i s understood to
have around 8 ,000 nerve
endings . In comparison , the
entire penis (not just i ts
head ! ) i s understood to have
4 ,000 nerve endings .
N E R V E E N D I N G S . . .
THE G-SPOTAlthough study i s lacking in this
department , there i s research
showing that the G -Spot i s
l inked to the urethral sponge ,
and many health professionals
recognize the G -spot as part of
the entire cl itor is .
The urethral sponge i s a spongy
body of erecti le t issue that
surrounds the urethra .
Embedded in the t issue are
several prostate - l ike glans .

THEURETHRALSPONGE
Though i t ’s been up to debate ,
there i s research that suggests
that two of the largest glans , or
the Skene ’s glands , act as the
female prostate and can
secrete an alkal ine f luid . This
f luid i s often thought of as
“ female ejaculat ion . ”
While there needs to be more
research done on female
genital ia , i t ’s clear that people
receive pleasure f rom
stimulat ion of this “G -Spot ” , or
urethral sponge , l ikely because
other parts of the cl itor is and
its 8 ,000 nerve endings can be
found there .

BUTT STUFF:
T H E S U R P R I S I N G A N A T O M Y O F O U R B E H I N D
The anus , or what ’s vis ible between your butt cheeks ,
i s the opening to the rectum , or the f inal port ion of
the large intest ine . I t i s surrounded by two muscular
r ings , cal led the internal and external sphincter .
While we can voluntar i ly control the external , we
can ’t control the internal sphincter . Like the vagina ,
the anus i s r ich with nerve endings , most of them
centered just around the opening .
T H E A N U S A N D P E R I A N A L R E G I O N
One important nerve i s the
pudendal nerve . Located near
the bottom of the spinal cord ,
this main nerve al lows us to feel
the pleasurable sensations
during orgasm , as i t suppl ies
the smaller nerves to the
bladder , anus and cl itor is .
Within this perianal region l ies
the pubococcygeus , or PC ,
muscle . Also cal led Kegel
muscles , i t stretches f rom the
pubic to tai l bone and forms the
f loor of the pelvic cavity . I f
you ’ve ever squeezed out those
last drops of pee , you did that
by squeezing that muscle . The
PC muscle also usual ly contracts
during orgasm .
PUDENDALNERVE
PERINEALSPONGE
Final ly , the perineal sponge ,
also cal led the perineum , can
also be found in this region
between the bottom of the
vaginal opening and the
rectum . Made of nerve endings ,
erecti le t issue and blood
vessels , the perineum becomes
swollen with blood when
aroused . Once ful ly aroused , i t
wi l l compress the outer ⁄ of
the vagina and vest ibular bulbs ,
leading to a “t ighter ” feel ing .
ANAL SEX101
Since the anus does not sel f -
lubricate l ike the vagina , you
need to ensure that i t i s well
prepared for any form of
penetrat ion . Don ’t try anal sex
without taking the t ime to
prepare your body , with plenty
of lube and outercourse , also
known as foreplay .
The 3 most important things to
consider when having anal sex :
L U B R I C A T I O N ,
R E L A X A T I O N A N D
S A N I T A T I O N
The most painful part can be
insert ing an object past the
sphincters . Breathing deeply ,
relaxing and taking breaks can
help ease any pain . Only
continue i f everyone i s feel ing
pleasure f rom the experience . I f
not , maybe i t ’s t ime to st imulate
a dif ferent area .
But - and i t ’s a big but ! - i f you
are switching f rom anal to
vaginal sex , be sure to use a new
condom and careful ly wash
everything (e .g . , f ingers ,
vibrators ) that was inserted
anal ly before vaginal insert ion to
prevent the spread of bacter ia
from the bowels to the rest of
the body .

EROGENOUSZONES
W H A T A R E E R O G E N O U S Z O N E S ?
Erogenous zones are areas of the body with high
sensit iv i ty . Although the whole body i s erogenous , some
areas have more nerve receptors than others , so these
areas pass more impulses to the brain about what feels
good versus not so good . That ’s why i t i s more pleasurable
to have our nipples rubbed versus our elbows . When an
erogenous zone i s st imulated , impulses are sent via the
nerve receptors to the brain to s ignal sexual pleasure .
A recent Brit ish study asked over
300 men and 500 women to note
from 0 to 10 the sexual arousal
felt on 41 areas of the body , f rom
the genital region to the elbow
and bel ly button . Unsurpris ingly ,
the most erogenous areas are the
genitals ( i .e . , the penis , test icles ,
cl itor is and vagina ) . This makes
sense , given as these erogenous
zones often are associated with
sexual pleasure and orgasm .
On the other hand , this study
surpris ingly determined that
women seem more responsive to
touch than men .
EROGENOUSZONESO N Y O U R B O D Y
ON YOURBODY
The majority of women defined 6
zones as “ intensely erogenous ” by
rat ing above 7 when i t came to
sensit iv i ty : the cl itor is , vagina ,
mouth and l ips , top of the neck ,
breasts and nipples . Only 3 zones
were rated above 7 for men : the
penis , mouth and l ips . But that
doesn ’t mean that men have
fewer erogenous zones than
women , s ince they identi fy the
same amount . They s imply
qual i fy them as being less
sensit ive than women do .

EROGENOUSPOTENTIAL
According to another study f rom
Finland , given that our whole
body i s sensit ive to touch rather
than only our genital ia , the
opportunit ies to st imulate
another kind of nerve endings ,
cal led C -tact i le or CT f ibers , are
mult ipl ied .
These highly sensit ive CT f ibers
play a role in the emergence of
deeper emotions that can build a
relat ionship with a partner . In
short , our body has sensors
scattered throughout , capable of
awakening our desire for physical
contact , and this touch
strengthens our social bonds
essential to the survival of the
human species .
SO THAT'S THESCIENCE FOR YOU
Every inch of our skin can become a sourceof arousal. That’s why it’s difficult to
pinpoint all our erogenous zones on a map.By including some but not others, we could
miss out on so many orgasmicexperiences. Exploring your body is
definitely an adventure worth taking – if not for you, then in the name of science!
