INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTIONWearables are an important and a new emerging
technologyNumber of applications designed for wearables are
increasing rapidlyIt is an extension of the user’s mind and body and
provides a hands-free environmentWill become commonplace in the near future and
will be embraced
1.WHAT ARE WEARABLES?
WHAT ARE WEARABLES?Scaled down electronic gadgetsClothing or accessories run by a computerIncorporate practical functions and featuresWearable computing: The study or practice of creating,
outlining, building, or utilizing small body-borne computational gadgets
Examples: Smart watches, Smart Bands, Smart Jewelry and glasses
2. A BRIEF HISTORY OF WEARABLES

4) WORKING OF WEARABLES
At grass root level , wearables qualify as devices that are :
The working principlesof any and all wearables
How does it all work ?● Two - Part device with feedback from another
computer● Presence of a variety of on-board sensors like :
○ Accelerometer , Gyroscope , Barometer , Ambient light sensor , compass etc
● This array of sensors log various life activities like sleep patterns , jogging activity .
● The use of highly mobile and efficient platforms.● Persistent connection to information sources . ● Use cases specific to the ultra-portable omnipresent
nature of wearables enable them to work in a unique way.
● Putting it all together in a way no other technology gets close to the user.
Android Wear

Application
Framework
● Android wear is based on the Android Platform maintained by Google as the AOSP
● Kernel based on linux. (Open Source)● Used the Dalvik runtime but since recently has moved to ART .● An application framework that revolves around various managers which help
apps manage various resources.● Applications can be developed using XML and Java using the SDKs provided.
Android Wear - Device and Development
● All Android devices use low power SOCs based on the ARM architecture , like the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 400 clocked at 1.2GHz or Intel’s equivalent low power SOCs.
● They include a variety of on board sensors .● Screens typically used enhance visibility in outdoor environment and consume lesser
power . Technologies like IPS LCDs , POLED , AMOLED .
● Android Wear apps are developed using the Android Wear API○ It supports two way interaction between mobile and the wearable.○ Uses the Bluetooth 4.0 LE when available .○ Supports NLP and Voice Interactions along with touch gestures.○ It is included the the APK developed for the Mobile module which makes it very
portable and convenient.○ In true spirit of Android , its watch faces and other functionalities are highly
customizable.
CONCLUSIONWearables will effectively increase safety, comfort and security for users
It will enhance the quality of life of the user at both work and home
They are the true extension of mind and body
