•Session Aims:•To introduce the course structure and modes of assessment•To introduce learners to design principles for portfolio websites•To outline using a personal SWOT analysis for uncovering skills and talents•To introduce learners to using blogs for digital diaries(Learning Outcome 1)

Taking Screenshots in Mac OS X• Shortcuts

• Command-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it as a file on the desktop

• Command-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it as a file on the desktop

• Command-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it as a file on the desktop

• 1. Open up the window or windows you want to have in your screen shot.

• 2. Arrange them so you can see all the information you need on-screen.

• 3. Press the PrtScr button (shown below) - this will copy the image of your screen to the "clipboard", meaning you can now paste is as an image.

• 4. Open your favourite image editing software (MS Paint, Adobe Photoshop, Jasc PaintShopPro, GIMP etc.).

• 5. Paste (CTRL + V) the copied screen shot into the program.

• 6. Use the selection marquee tools to highlight the area you want to save.

• 7. Use the crop tool to remove everything except the area you selected.

• 8. Save the image as a .jpg.
