Hiei is passionate about stretching the limits of design from a multi-faceted approach. With experience in multiple mediums and a degree from Cal Poly’s Department of Archi-tecture, he is interested in applying his design build knowledge to graphical design projects.

Design challenge to engage the public in an unused staircase landing by creating a temporary installation. Designed to attract the public with the warmth of wood, while balancing the space with a geometric, linear composition of metal.

This table design is influenced by funicu-lar arches and the significant strength the geometry holds. It was created for the Cal Poly Vellum Furniture Competition and is constructed from veneer plywood topped with a glass surface.

A 12-foot runabout motorboat designed from blueprint drawings and constructed with mahogany lumber and marine grade plywood. Personally completed all frame-work, major sanding, detailed woodwork, fiberglass finish on the body, and final paint job.
