ENVISION VERSION 2.0
Sustainable InfrastructureRating System
Mel Meng, March 2014
A very biased and short introduction
Do whatever we can to make sure our children live a better life than us.
Sustainability is Simple
Sustainability is a moral thing!
But how do you know
you did “whatever you can?”
Envision 2.0 is a simple checklist of 60 questions
that once asked, you’ll know immediately what is
the right thing to do next.
60 questions is a lot more than whatever I can think of, and that is the first step toward
“whatever I can do”
Envision 2.0 encourages you to think about the
morally right thing to do without making
assumptions of projects and technologies.
Simple & Complete
How does it work?

Points
Credits are items such as QL1.1, LD1.2, they are NOT POINTS!
Not sure how many points a credit can earn? read the manual!
Example
Incinerator Project
We fought the client and eventually convinced the client to turn the NEW incinerator project into a storage tank project without any incineration.
Example
Proposed Tunnel in a mostly rural area
Sewer extension will encourage development and urban sprawl, is that the right thing to do for this rural community?
Example
Green Infrastructures
Specify locally available soil, plants and materials.
