Current Population Survey History
• Originally called “Monthly Report of Unemployment” and administered by the Works Progress Administration
• 1942 Name changed to Monthly Report on the Labor Force and taken over by Census Bureau
• 1948 name changed again to Current Population Survey to account for expanding role for demographic, social and economic characteristics.
